Interesting items in the latest Ithacating blog entry, including a political stand in the last item.

https://ithacating.com/2017/12/03/ne...ging-calculus/

I've lived through 12 presidential administrations (I won't include Truman.... I don't remember him), and I've learned things can get very bad, but the country always pulls through. I believe we will even survive Trump.

The first step in what will be the largest downtown development for the city. I hope this actually occurs, but there might well be some legal issues with the start of the process.

Article from the Ithaca Voice:

^ Yeah, that sounds pretty tricky. The short time frame to submit a proposal, combined with the whole bit about how Ithaca Properties, LLC owns a chunk of the property underneath the eastern portion of the garage sounds like it would be a turn off for other developers. My first thought before even getting to the bottom of the article was, that is not enough time for the RFP.

Could be a big obstacle for the project.

Wow, I almost forgot about this project. This will probably end up being the biggest (certainly money wise) in Ithaca. Nice to see not only a bunch more housing, but also reuse of an old factory. From the Ithaca Voice:

It will probably be at least a 10 year project.

Very informative article from the Ithaca Times about one of the reasons for the affordable housing crisis in the city of Ithaca and Tompkins County. Good stuff:

It's not a huge project, but it will help the city's West End. A local food cooperative is moving to a bigger building (from the Ithaca Voice):
