I will never forgive the city for allowing the demolition of the Shanghai. It was the end of Chinatown.

Personally while I think it won’t be the same without Shanghai, Chinatown is at the start of a rebirth. There’s so much residential going up on north Princess, Market Lands will reconnect it with the Exchange, RRC expanding, eventually the new Chinatown revitalization plan will start… only a matter of time.

After Shanghai, the city removing all the Chinatown specific streetscaping and signage the next travesty. Its so brutal.

Harrison’s on Princess is ready to open but building occupancy not expected till December.

I would venture to guess that its owner Ken Zaifman is the whole reason why the derelict buildings bylaw even exists.

A classic case of 'Demolition by Neglect.'
I befriended a woman who resided in the building as a tenant in 2008. I went to visit once, and was horrified by what I saw. The place was filled with drug addicts, and smelled pretty bad. I was amazed the public health department had let it operate with tenants at the time. It's a shame that that building has fallen into such neglect. I was in it a few times when Wellington's existed. I also stopped by the bar at the front of the hotel a couple of times in the mid 90s.

Even though this is in Bridgwater gotta give credit where it's due this is quite a well constructed building with good color coordination and the 1st floor retail will only bolster the area and add more pedestrians. Ironclad has been doing amazing work in this city.

The warehouse on Ross Ave. and Ellen St. is fenced off now. Imrie will be demolishing it to make way for a new Addiction Center.

RWB is thrilled to announce that in January the RWB School will open a new state-of-the-art student boarding facility for the young artists training in the Professional Division. This safe, supportive, and functional environment boasts dance and fitness studios, classrooms, and relaxation spaces in addition to two private floors of student living quarters to balance training with comfortable living in their home away from home.
"The opportunity to provide aspiring dancers with a brand-new place to learn and grow that was specifically designed for them is incredible," shares School Director Stéphane Léonard, who oversaw the design and construction process.

The render looks better than the real thing. It's stucco. If it was some type of panel, it would probably look much nicer.

Curious as to whether the new residence offers any additional space or improvements compared to the old one, or if it's basically just a straight up one-for-one exchange.

They did lose the outdoor courtyard space.

I heard the bay has been awarded to a group. Not sure if I can say or not so....
