My real rough estimate is that it's about 565' right now with about 240' to go.

I have always loved that wall of older buildings when viewed from Lake Shore Drive and I want to believe that Jahn's design is trying to cleverly honor that wonderful wall while

simultaneously breaking into it. Maybe I'm fooling myself, but I want to believe he appreciated that historical vista.
It was required to maintain the feel of the street wall. The street wall on Michigan Ave is protected and proposals have to undergo a design review

I was thinking closer to 580', but you might be correct, and I hope you are.

The photo below is great. When 1000M is done, this cluster alone will be among the nation's top 20 skylines.

My estimate was based on counting about 50 floors, which would mean there’s about 30% left until the top. So like I said, rough. It’s hard to tell how many floors are under the forms and our estimates are about a floor apart. Either way, that’s over 200’ left for this one to rise.

Looking at that picture you reposted, it seems to be approaching the height of The Grant, which is 594‘ to the tip. Hard to tell exactly because I believe 1000M is closer to the camera. Seem like it’s gonna make a big impact on that cluster because it’s so top heavy compared to the other towers around it.

If you picked up all those towers in bvic's fireboat pic and plopped them down in, say, Peoria, then Peoria would instantly become the second tallest skyline in the Midwest.

And an excellent shot bvic!

We're now at the most exciting part.

In most of the world, especially when it comes to height/length 1000M means one kilometer. That, friends and neighbors, would be something to crow about.

Nema 2 needs to be like 1200' to create the perfect skyline peak here. They also need to knock down the grocery store on Roosevelt and build a multi tower complex with a 900' tall building next to the train.

I still wish we got Grant Park 3 somewhere in the mix along Roosevelt.

I think we actually dodged a bullet with that one.

NEMA is an order of magnitude better, design-wise.

Realistically I don't see that happening but a well designed ~1,000 footer would be icing on the cake for that area.

There’s still the vacant lot at 830 S Michigan too, a 800’-900’ tower would look great there.

The shifting floorplates are really starting to be noticeable. This one has been a treat to watch.

I wonder if Vinoly's death two weeks back will have any impact on putting NEMA II up for redesign. Crescent heights has worked with Vinoly several times, they might want to keep the design as is out of respect. We could end up seeing the original design carried out, which certainly wouldn't be 1200 feet.
