Upcoming Community Presentation for Development Proposal at Franklin and Illinois (Southwest Corner)

Alderman Reilly invites you to join him at a public presentation for a development proposal at the southwest corner of Franklin and Illinois. Representatives of the Illinois Franklin LLC team will present their plans and answer questions you may have about their proposal.

The applicant has submitted a proposal for the development of a 23-story residential building with ground floor retail and commercial space. Approximately 108 accessory off-street parking spaces will be provided. The site is currently used as a surface parking lot. The adjacent Assumption Church site is included in the overall development parcel, and a portion of the accessory parking will be dedicated for use by the church. The overall development proposal includes a 1-2 story vertical expansion of the existing priory building and enhancements to the existing gardens.

WHO: Hosted by Alderman Brendan Reilly

WHEN: Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 6:00 pm

Where: Gino's East - River North Location
500 North LaSalle, 3rd Floor

I'm going to have to be pretty drunk to tolerate the River North Nimby Brigade.

Someone should really invite Burt Natarus again, his rant a few months back was hilarious.

All the river northers who think there's never enough parking anywhere should go live in that building^

Depends a lot on the time of day and sky conditions, which is one of the reasons I haven't taken many pictures. I'm still trying to figure out what time of day is best.

I can imagine this one being kinda tricky to photograph because of the irregular floorplate, so catching the proper lighting is more difficult - nice photo though, thanks.

we reached the tipping point. land in rivernorth is now simply too damn valuable to be left fallow for automobile storage, even for tax-free entities like churches.

Best part: The tax exempt land now gets put back onto the books! This is brand new badly needed revenue for the city. Hopefully the project does not take a haircut limiting the amount of new tax revenue generation that we would otherwise receive out of it.

Another update:

No.9 Walton is now very under construction with Case drilling on site and some concrete already poured around the perimeter of the site. They are wasting no time on this one.

The tower crane base has shown up at Hojo Tower, its a red one. Wonder if they just shipped it over from Wolf Point West?

^ Thanks for the info, LVDW.

Re the building next to Assumption Church, it's quite beautiful inside; I'm happy it's not going anywhere, considering so little of this type of architecture remains.

That Assumption lot is across the street from a block of lofts just like sexton, but I think they'd only lose a view of the train tracks. Some people might lose their view of Merch, and if so I'll hear about it.
