1011 West Howard Street, Evanston - senior housing

Looks to have gone through some value engineering when comparing to the original renderings. Still it at least fronts flush with the sidewalk.

Evanston is more urban than several city neighborhoods *cough cough jeff/edison park* I wish we could annex it to the city. So much development going on.

Optima in D'town Wilmette well underway. I spent an hour or two here and have to say in the last 2 years the area has had quite a renaissance and has turned the corner imo. New shops and the Valley Lodge bar was busier than any place in Evanston. There are plenty of new quality restaurants popping up too.

Nice, I need to do an urban suburb tour, haven’t done once since the pandemic started.

I’m thinking Oak Park, Wilmette, Elmhurst, and a couple of these other towns that have had a lot of newer development on their downtowns

It's amazing how much construction has occurred in downtown Elmhurst. Not quite like Oak Park, but still...

Evanston - the change since the '80s is huge.

Speaking of Evanston, two new proposals:

Link 2.0 | 10 stories | 228 units

https://www.cityofevanston.org/home/...00100393000000

1621-1631 Chicago Avenue | 18 stories | 180 units

Yes - I def want to visit Elmhurst. I haven't been out that way in quite a few years.

In Wilmette the long construction of new streets and downtown infrastructure is finally paying off. The gemütlich early 20th century European styled streets feel livelier. I was actually a little shocked since I think I even commented here some time back how dead I thought it was compared to its neighbor communities.

Nice to see Evanston and several other suburbs continuing to urbanize. I always said Chicago and New York has the best suburbs in the country.
