sad, indeed. i remember driving up to phx from tucson in the mid to late 80's and this building was the marker that you had reached the (compared to Tucson lol) "Big City".

^ It was always spooky as hell but it was Cold War-level of construction.
I'm sure the long-reach excavators are going to have a field day gnawing into this big boye.
i never actually thought of it as being cold war...but yeah see it now lol. it was modern (post- that is) and "tall" for the arizona suburbs in 1986 !!! which made it bad-ass
My only question is, why are they so dark?? Was there not a planned theme from the city about how the lakeside structures would be built/colored/themed to fit the airy and cool tones of the water (blues, glass, flowing shapes?) I feel like these are much darker than I expected, especially in the desert it doesn’t seem to make much sense for cooling.
Looks pretty good and looks like a good chance of this actually happening.
Off topic, does anyone know why they still have the waterfall feature at Grand at Papago fenced off? It's been completed and operational for over a year now. I went by yesterday hoping it was open to relax by it. Nope, still fenced off.

I spoke with someone I have a connection with professionally that works with The Grand and they stated that it was undergoing maintenance for whatever reason. Should be opening back up here soonish
Culdesac, the company developing a 17-acre car-free community in Tempe, announced on Thursday that it had raised $30 million in series A funding which it plans to use to hire more staff and expand its real estate portfolio.
Culdesac is constructing its 1,000-person, walkable community at 2025 E Apache Blvd in Tempe, which is expected to open up to residents by this summer. Culdesac was originally founded in California’s Bay Area and officially moved its headquarters to Tempe late last year.
Is the old Club Rio spot and the horse property that was on the north side of the lake west of Scottsdale Road still there? Looks like the horse place has been developed but I'm not sure about Club Rio and don't know what is or was planned for that area.

Hello PHX31. The Watermark is what replaced Club Rio.
ASU has installed not one, not two, but FOUR webcams at the arena project for us to watch, I’ll link it below. Always good to see photos from boots on the ground when you get a chance, can’t wait to see.
The infrastructure below the ice sheet in the main rink is in progress. I found this link interesting. It shows how that infrastructure is built and what each layer does. Currently they're at the stage of covering the heating coils with sand. Who would have ever known that heating coils are needed under the ice?
I was looking to see where this one was at as I didn't see any movement lately on the site. Looking at the new azre magazine there is an ad for Red Development that mentions a Spring 2022 construction start. Looking forward to see how that goes. Especially with the light rail going underneath.
Demolition in full swing for the site east of Culdesac...Culdesac seems to be picking up steam....squatter is still on the site of the Eastline Village even with the storage container still there....seems like its causing that project to stall....
