A pile of pilings - from when this was the waterfront.

on the way to Navy Pier - there is quite a bit of tourist traffic here.

^ Thanks for the posts, Harry! Great shots. This is the quietest thread for an 850 ft. tall tower. Still, it's fun to see this thing under construction, and in such a visible location.

Looks like a bunch of units hit the MLS. Some of the prices are around $1,300/sqft. Similar to Wanda.

More like pilings that were probably the foundation of the previous building on the site.

The image below is of the building that was previously on the site and demolished in 2003.

How often is there towers of this size 1) built over an already existing parking garge. 2) that parking garage remain open during construction. 3) what kind of major problems have happend to those garages if any?

I could see this happening more often in new york but is it common in chicago?

Forgive the ignorance of Chicago geography but this building will be right next to Vista, right? Or at least close? The two will look really cool together

They're separated by the river and a bunch of buildings in between, so pretty close to each other.

The colored building is Aqua (with Std Oil behind it), Wanda will rise to the left behind the red buildings, to the right of the crane.

May 2016

From another angle - Wanda on the Left (will be fully visible) Parkview will be amost entirely behind the red tower on the Right .

July 2014

Viewing the skyline from the north lakefront, Vista and One Bennett will probably look pretty close.

836', or so said a representative from Related. I asked if this was to the underside of the top most floor or to the top of the crown and the response was to the top of the crown.

So half of this will be regular rentals or something? Or servants quarters?

Also, I wonder whether a completely secure partition will be constructed within the existing garage, or whether there will be only a vehicle gate with little to prevent public parkers from walking into the reserved part of the garage. (There was a carjacking in the underground garage a block west about a year ago.)

I had the opportunity to go into 30 Park Place last night, and gotta say it is a beautiful building up close, and inside. My understanding is One Bennett will be very similar in materials, and if so, I think this thing will be a winner. Obviously One Bennett won't be as ideal at base with the driveway, but I'm hopeful after spending some quality time in 30 park place.

If the building comes out decent, hopefully One Bennet isn't the only new deco building we'll get from Stern.

One is a enough. It's 2016, not 1920.
