Sounds about right, but Utica doesn't have a big college.

Looks kinda gloomy JMan. There are some dandy old structures in the city, but who's gonna save 'em? Still, it's upstate NY, so I gotta love it. Thanks for the pics.

Oh yeah, it's cool that you and Derek have a connection back in Utica. Good stuff.

It's a small world, after all... Sometimes SSP's just peachy, ain't it?

Interesting. I never been here. Looks like it could have potential to become much nicer and maybe not.

Crime hasn't helped Utica...there is enormous potential though..as there is for all these old upstate towns and cities imo.

mancuso when did you go there? i was there last week, stocked up on halfmoons, tomata pie, riggies, UC and Saranac. i should try to get some shots myself, the parkway view would be good, and through "eas jutica", which is comparable to south philly back in the day. theres alot of strange affiliations with philly, because utica has a liberty bell replica, the last pro sports team we had were the prowlers, which were the flyers affiliate. utica also had the devils affiliate back in the early 90s, and yes Marty Brodeur did play for. the arena in Utica is the "Aud", and the Garden was actually modeled after it.

and utica and philly are the two cities that invented tomato pie. i belong in philly. why NYC used an ugly arena as inspriartoin is beyond me. i was in utica in early january. i will be back up there either in may or june.

Just thought that 3,000 students didn't have near the impact on a city over 50,000 as over 10,000 students do on a city of less than 50,000.

btw, Utica Club - I use to drink that (along with some other cheap upstate beers) when it was on sale.

How large is Utica? Looks like there are some big hills there, too.

2000 pop. was just above 60,000 people (in 1930 the pop. was over 100,000!)

Why all the decline in Upstate New York. That area is the most beautiful part of the state.
