Took the bus past this last weekend and all of the previous structures are gone. hopefully this can get moving soon. WSQW could really use the energy.

There is some equipment on site, it looks like they are drilling but its not the normal size piece of equipment you would see for caissons. I assume this is just going to be slab o grade and no underground parking.

Same -- although that Wendy's was so ugly/embarrassing that I'd rather have this hole in the ground, which portends construction, than a suburban Wendy's from the 1970s.

they tore down multiple buildings and I do not agree that a fenced in lot in the middle of downtown is better than having real buildings, even if one was a fast food place. This corner looks terrible and the sidewalk is barely passable on 11th street because of the fence supports protruding into the walkway.

Sure. You wanna take down that terrible Wendy's? Fine. But you're not touching the rowhomes until you show us your financing.

This kinda BS drives me bananas.

Is the group who owns the project known as 1105 Walnut LLC?

https://www.penndot.pa.gov/RegionalO...px?newsid=8000

if so, looks like some work starts next week.

edit: I looked it up- that is the group.

Exciting, I was worried this was just going to end up as a hole in the ground.

This morning they had all the sidewalks surrounding the site (Walnut, 11th) blocked. It's actually created quite the clusterf**k on 11th, where sidewalks on both sides of the street are completely blocked at Sansom ATM.

If there's one thing I've noticed that Philly absolutely sucks at is NOT creating a pedestrian walkway during construction, they basically just block the entirety of the sidewalk and say 'good luck in the road' I've encountered that on 12th street, up on Spring Garden, just to name a few.

the narrower the streets the bigger the challenge. On relatively narrow Center city streets they often need the parking lane to create construction loading zone which means that same real estate cannot be used to create pedestrian walking lane. This is what happened on chestnut for the jefferson building- the north lane was absorbed into the construction site for staging of materials and truck deliveries and this leaves only one lane of traffic for that block.

I want to say, yes ... as more barriers are up, and porta-potties are on site, but I did not see anyone actually working there yesterday.

If they went through the process to get a highway occupancy permit the project is moving fwd. The lack of work so far could be related to the fact they didnt have this permit and could not take a lane of Walnut.

Rule 1 in construction.....Once the porta-potties show up, it's game on.
