I'm glad we're not getting the likes of Echo and L Avenue in Toronto. And the only thing Ocean Height has going for it is height. Put that design on a 150m tower and it would be another bland box condo going up. The other two towers enrigue8 posted are nice and impressive though to be fair.

I would be honest.I would like to see more beautiful building and not boxy with uglies balconies. I will show some in Toronto

488 university

150 redpath

Block 22

Casa

X2 condos

Couture

The bond

Tableau

College at spadina

Soul condos (really ugly)

There many more like that here. Why build tower like that.
Why there no more creativity here.I just would like to see more beauties here
But it does not mean that all boxy building are ugly

^^ I think most Torontonians hate the majority of boxes going up; the exception being the condo developers, heavy hitter realtors , brokers, mortgage agents etc..

If Toronto didn't have boxes, we would look like Dubai or Shanghai, and is that what you really want.

We are supposed to be a classy city, in the mold of Switzerland.

No. I am fond of boxes. Certainly not without exception, though.

I've been following Toronto since the early 80's when its architecture was rather dour, pin-striped at best. I'd say its come a long, long way since.

Every building must have it personality.Every building must be beautiful and different style than the other one.

Every building in Dubai looks different. And it looks like a mess.

I actually like some of the buildings in Dubai, but the skyline as a whole looks ad hoc and kitschy; the gaudy playground of someone with more money than he knows what to do with.

which is what has been happening. Developer did a second submission, with several changes. Approval is expected soon, the fact that they are debating loading spaces means they are pretty close to finishing up and signing the dotted line.

I don't have any insider info cal, but the approvals process has been going on for a while now and they made their second submission quite a while ago.. with no apparent signs of needing a 3rd submission. I imagine it'll go in front of community council in April or May. Possibly shovels by the end of the summer provided Mizrahi can line up financing.

Most posts have been positive on this project, the only negative is Tam-Wong, and she seems outnumbered, so it's almost celebration time.

Height reduced to 304.3m in order to reduce the shadow impact of the tower on nearby Jesse Ketchum Park

Apparently those children suffer from a strange medical affliction and turn into pumpkins if not showered with direct sunlight. It's only fair that city building get curtailed to their needs. I wonder what they do when its over cast? Call 9-11 I guess.

Is this even a reliable source? I thought it was getting reduced because Mizrahi decided it wouldnt be feasible to give the large donation for the extra height (like the devloper of Scotia Plaza gave to get their tower approved for its height/square footage)

Jesse Ketchum is such an ugly blight on yorkville. No redeeming qualities.

What is always with the children and Jesse Ketchum? It's a public park that hopefully will one day be renovated into something a lot better. There aren't exactly lots of public spaces in the area. There are lots of tall buildings.

Yeah, community consultation and the DRP are just advisory. Mizrahi isn't going to make changes just because of them.

Every building should be of exceptional quality and good urban form regardless of the particular design aesthetics the architect employed. Many of those towers posted on the previous page are extremely gimmicky with piss poor urban form. I don't see a lot of personality and beauty particularly if you were to stick them all in an urban setting. Some of those dreaded boxes are of good quality and form.

Hold your breath, could be reduced further or cancelled.
