You are correct. You can see in the close-up image that SolarWind posted the spandrel sub-panels curving along the structural slab, the vision glass will be installed above and below the spandrel, following the same curved geometry.

1000M made several cameo appearances in a Block Club story on downtown rental rates:

It's for sure not curved i'm not sure why anyone here ever expected it to be.

It's an asymmetrical curved form it's not like a cylinder where every panel could have the same curve and manufacturing or replacing panels could be done simply. Here a ridiculous number of glass panels or sets of panels would have to be completely unique. The cost of production and maintenance for that would be stupid.

Core is at about 40-41 floors, so another 30-32 floors to go.

Having another 30+ floors to look forward to gets me itching for more tall towers to take up those lots on Wabash, to box in in the park even more. And can I get a Nema #2?

Cap the tracks with a feature park - a mini millennium if you will. Keep up the momentum of that area. It still has a weird vibe.

Exactly, was puzzling over the same thing....there was zero chance this was ever going to be curved glass.

Would never expect curved glass on the large arc. That would never be worth the minimal effect. On an apartment building I also wouldn't expect them to spring for curved glass on the radiused corner. But what is interesting is that the metal spandrel on that corner most definitely is an almost smooth curve, so it will be interesting to see how that will come out with the glass in the next couple days.

This building is coming out so good! I’m so glad this was able to go forward after many delays. Will be a great addition to the skyline!

The glass may not be curved, but the panels are of high quality and this is going to look great on the skyline.

Agreed on the glass quality. I can't recall a recent Chicago building, commercial or residential, without the "oil-canning" effect. Bravo, 1000M!

It has an oil canned appearance like every other residential building. Go back a couple pages for a different view of the angled portion. Not that this really matters. Still looks nice to me.

Glass facades appear flat only when there’s nothing around it, or if there’s a near object like a mullion projection or fin which will reduce optical distortion in reflections. Since it’s taller than its neighbors and faces the park, the distortions aren’t apparent. Those elevations will appear perfectly flat.

This conversation appears in every glass tower thread, like there’s some specification paragraph for ultra flat glass. But distortions are just reality on a facade system this big, especially in a dynamic climate where the assembly needs to flex with temperatures.

Tower still looks great, but I’m skeptical of any considerations to make the glass any flatter than comparable cladding systems
