Good stuff mayday!

@Toyota 74 - The standard questions should stay. But if people want to add extra info they can always feel free to do so. No one will stop them and Im sure we will all enjoy the extra info.

Great read Mayday. Thanks for including the extra info. I'm with Toyota, I think we could use some fresh questions.

How about 'summing up your style in one photo' being replaced with 'show us your favorites'. People already ignore the question since it is nearly impossible to express your style in one shot.

The inspirations and influences still works well.

The 'where have you not been' question is a little forced. I guess everyone has places they would like to go but I'm not sure why the question is restricted to location. 'What events would you like to shoot?' 'What genres of photography would you like to explore?' Time of day, time of year, how does this affect your shots?' Where would you like to be in the future?

I like the photothread questions but some photographers here don't make threads. This could be changed to what shots/threads have been most successful/unsuccessful.

The tips or wisdom could be expanded. I feel the current level of questions do very little to explore the motives and experience of the interviewee. The thread is called getting to know your SSP photographers. I think we should ask questions that do just that.

Why do you like photography? What are your greatest weaknesses as a photographer? How are you currently constrained in the field? What are your major annoyances? How does photography fit into the rest of your life?

I agree, Okayyou. I'm all for someone re-working the current list of questions, and I like many of the alterations/changes/additions/subtractions you've mentioned. Care to sign up for the task of rewriting them?

Sure, I'll think about it and post here with a set for people to discuss. If anyone else has ideas for questions feel free to post them.

Have you ever taken nude photography and would you like to share your photos?

But seriously, you have good suggestions. Just go with your gut. We trust you.

I am thinking something like this:

Tech question:

What are you shooting with and what would you like to shoot with?

Maybe a place for people to plug their work/website.

Motivation and Influence:

How did you first get into photography?

Talk about your inspirations and influences

What motivates you to get out and shoot?

If you could photograph anything, what would it be (places, events, famous people)?

What genres of photography would you like to explore?

How does photography fit into the rest of your life?

Show and Tell:

What shots exemplify your style?

Talk about your most popular photos/photothreads.

Talk about your photos/photothreads that didn't get the response you wanted.

Humanizing section:

What do you feel are your greatest weaknesses as a photographer?

How are you currently constrained in the field?

What are your major annoyances and frustrations?

Have you ever taken nude photography and would you like to share your photos?

Wrap Up:

Where would you like to be in the future?

Any tips or personal wisdom you'd like to pass on to others?

Who should we ask these questions of next?

Roughly 15 questions maybe get it down to 10. Some of these could be combined.

I've sent him a few PM's over the last month already... Not sure it's going to happen, honestly. Who else is in the line-up?

I had requested NinjaTune or R@ptor but never sent PMs. I think Toyota74 would be a good choice.

So it's been a while here since anyone's been active. Who's next? I've sent a PM or two to toyota74, but to no avail so far. Who else should I try to contact?

Centropolis responded to me, said he's busy and will get to it.

Sadly, we won't get to hear from Robert Pence, something I was looking forward to. He passed away last week. A big loss to these forums, especially the photography section. Many of us learned a lot from him.

RIP

I'm sorry to hear about Robert Pence. What do you guys think about trying to answer the questions for him posthumously? If we try to determine what he thought, and what his one photograph would be, it would be a nice way to preserve things for the future.
