One of the better videos of the Charlotte metro. It covers like all the rivers and lakes except for the largest lake Surprised to see no mention of South End, the fastest growing part of the city.

New: The Strawn Cottages site in Dilworth, pegged for redevelopment for 10-plus years, appears to finally have some momentum. Site owner Inlivian and The Fallon Co. plan to break ground on an office tower and a first phase of housing next year. https://bizjournals.com/charlotte/news

Quote:

After years of planning, designing and conceptualizing, Fallon and Inlivian will next year break ground on the first phase of what will be a $400 million-plus redevelopment.

The project, now called Centre South, will include up to 1.4 million square feet of development across multiple phases, including 330,000 square feet of office, 60,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, 745 residential units, potentially a 180-room hotel and open space. The first phase will include an office tower on South Boulevard and housing.

I was one of those people begging for lighting update for the Hearst Tower (sorry, it will forever be this to me) to counter the new towers on South Tryon. The skyline lighting should be a bit more balanced. Kudos to Truist.

NoDa

@CBJFahey

New this AM: A New York developer will soon have more than 4 acres at 36th and Tryon in NoDa after putting additional land under contract this month. A grocery store may be in the mix for a future project there
Quote:

Ezra and Long declined to comment on specifics about the NoDa project. But they say the planned development will be consistent with TOD-CC zoning and include a mixture of uses, including a residential component and ground-floor commercial space. There will also be a very active street experience, Long said.

So, what is the official height for the Duke Energy Plaza? I've seen three different heights - 660 feet with 40 floors, 609 feet 8 inches with 41 floors, and 628 feet 10 inches with 41 floors.

I noticed this tower wasn't added to Charlotte's building database, so I added it, but I would like to add the heights for it. Where did the 660 foot height come from? Are there any elevations for that number?

Duke Energy will move its corporate HQ and consolidate other corporate offices into its new Duke Energy Plaza, a 40-story tower under construction at 525 S. Tryon. All told, Duke will reduce its office footprint by 60% with the moves announced Monday. https://charlotte.axios.com/258578/d...-tower-uptown/

Charlotte-based developer White Point Partners and Greystar, headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, said this week that they would build a 24-story high-rise building at 1714 South Blvd. The project calls for 324 apartments and about 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.

Quote:

White Point and Greystar will serve as partners on that residential project. Separately, White Point has plans to eventually develop an office tower on another portion of the site. The rezoning approved this month allows for up to 325 apartments, 365,000 square feet of office space and 28,000 square feet of retail across the entire block.

Quote:
Construction on the project is expected to begin in December, with an expected completion date of January 2024, Greystar said.

Update on main library.

Quote:
Gaisbauer said demolition of the Main Library is expected to take place by December, once library support functions currently in the building relocate. That puts construction of the new building in the first quarter of 2022 and delivery in late 2024 or early 2025.
