With that I am pleasantly surprised by 2400 Market. So far it is coming along nicer than I anticipated.
To be fair to Hanover, this isn’t the easiest corner to lease at. Rentals have been sluggish from what I hear. They also spent a lot of their budget on interior finishes and amenities, in order to draw people in and create a “destination” building that people would want to live at despite the location... which is understandable. Therefore, that took away from exterior design and finishes.

They've GOT to find some money to cap Vine Street Expressway from 19th to 16th with the Alexander, townhomes, and Callowhill. Not to mention if a competent developer takes over the old Family Court building conversion to hotel (or the current one somehow manages) and if the Archdiocese moves forward with its apartments on the other side of Vine. Knitting this area immediately North of Vine back to Center City would be amazing. It has some of the best views in the City too.

Personally, I much prefer the money going to renovate the current structure which is beautiful but mostly feels run down.

Yep, they raised 47MM and that money is going towards renovation the existing structure. If they hit 100M, the bonus would of been the expansion.

i walked by the national this morning and the first piece of the facade was up on the front (2nd street side). not sure if it was a test piece, but it's up. it looked like the dimension from the render might have been VE'ed out, but here's to hoping it comes together nicely.

it appears work has finally resumed on the brickstone properties near Target. There was a concrete mixer out back and the doors were open.

Very happy to see the Met get started. This will be such a great addition to North Broad.

UPS is in the process of expanding their hub at PHL, now that the third runway project is suspended. Work should begin in earnest in 2019. Once completed the facility will relieve pressure off of their main terminal in Louisville, KY (SDF).

This little tidbit caught my attention more in the Philly Biz article linked above:

A mid-January workshop held to present the site to potential future users was attended by representatives of FedEx Corp. and of Amazon Air, the growing air-shipping subsidiary of the e-commerce giant with a hub in Hebron, Ky., near Cincinnati, among others, Tyrrell said.

Maybe another reason for Amazon to put their HQ2 here. 2nd HQ could house corporate employees responsible for Amazon Air.

I think we all have to remember much of the upper façade of the FOP will be covered in signage.

I'm sure it will. Look at the Lit Bros building and East Market. Laws were passed several years ago to allow such signage to help incentivize investment on market street.

I think the city passed them but there was some pushback from the state (and technically Market is a state road so they have control), and so I'm not sure what the plans are going forward. Something along those lines, anyway.
