I guess they are allowing for both a drainage slope and for settlement once the frost comes out on the PSB site.

I think it's mostly due to the requirement of perimeter shoring. If it is necessary (and it will be for this project), you want to install it from a firm level surface at grade. You can't dig below 5-feet without installing shoring, or doing a 45-degree cut. For the Wawanesa site, they need serious shoring on all 4 sides.
Thank you kindly.

I walked through TNS a few days ago while they were doing some pounding. Really does echo and reverberate in there with those curved buildings.

wow that shoring is tightly spaced looks like less than 3' on centre.

such a tight site no true staging area except sidewalks and alley, maybe they can use the Northland site LOL

I was out for a walk at lunch and noticed the red tower crane on the Sutton site closest to the Wawanesa site moving around. It was the first time I'd seen it move since December. I didn't see anyone on the Sutton site so I assumed it was related to the Wawanesa project.

On the other hand, they just let them swing around on their own on windy days. Was it actually hoisting anything?

I didn't see anything being hoisted, but the block was going up and down.

It may have just been maintenance - but given that there hasn't been a speck of progress made since December, I figured I'd report lol.

Maybe they're fixing to get going on Sutton Place now that spring is upon us. I surmised they held off for winter.

From this morning:

They were sweeping that part of the slab clean and then building what I assume is a workspace to assemble stuff. That area with the plywood is now past the small container in the middle and the near container has been moved to the opposite side of the crane.

Will be interesting to see what next week brings!

Also, work continues on the TNSE patio space above the walkway.

Looks like they're using Sutton Place as a staging area, maybe?

Thanks for the photos Grump!

Looks like the RWB residence is coming along too. Overtop the entire parkade footprint.

Has the RWB made any official announcement as to what they're building? I'd be curious to know the details.

Yeah it's been quite quiet on that front

Very nice addition for downtown Winnipeg. I am not too familiar with the city, i know it's located downtown but what impact will it have on the skyline?
