But if it’s to share a block with any Manhattan tower,
Marriott Marquis’ concrete preposterousness, is just the companion . .
Please get both of those hotel restaurants spinning round again . .
Then maybe get some of those glass Marquis elevators,
to zoom up & down the ridiculous funky facade, of 740’s miscreant
sore-thumb headdress . . Leaving the construction elevator attached
after completion, might also improve the structure’s appearance . .
add a spire on top of that as well . . then we might have an
interesting curiosity, rather than mere scabrous banality . .

adjacent to the peculiar upper-half of the building . .
then it would indeed be better than an expected
conventional boxy building . . punched fenestration
could add interest as well . .

I'm trying to picture the facade on this one, hard to imagine what would go with a building like this.

Cool it could start construction soon though, I assume the highest occupied floor will be at least close to 300 meters, there's nothing near that tall near Times Square yet (not counting pinnacles).

It’s so unusual looking that curiosity alone will draw people. Being a hotel, it has a built-in audience. But I’m betting on Barnet to create a spectacular enough experience to differentiate it from the other decks. Can’t wait until there are actual renderings.

I'm not going to debate the fact this thing is going to have a theme park ride BUT the specifications say INDOOR... which makes sense to operate it year round...

WHICH MEANS a glass curtain wall will actually fill out the perimeter of the building and what weve been seeing with the goofy massing is just the core without the glass envelope of the drop zone being shown?

Not quite, indoor could mean many things but definitely not a full enclosure of the perimeter. More likely that there would be 3 individual glass extrusions from the stem/core. The old wind tunnel model still showed the overall form/massing of the building, they would not leave out a big portion of facade for that nor the general zoning massing documents. The overall shape on the construction fence image that NYguy shared from a yimby member is what we're getting, and the ride extrusions are clearly visible on the stem.

We've already seen a version of the fully clad building, though not a fully colorized and detailed rendering. The ride graphic is just a cutaway showing where everything goes. Comparison below.

Also, the main roof of the building is at 1,067 ft.

Looks like that guy was over the capacity that the ride can handle. If the ride didn't get him, something else would of... like ones arteries.

Well... hopefully they don't close this if an accident happens. Things happen. But we can learn from them to prevent the next incident. It's like the Vessel, and folks jumping off of it. No need to close the attraction... if they didn't jump from the Vessel they would of jumped elsewhere. Nothing we can do about that. Time to move on!

I think Barnett would not close this or Extell if an incident happened. They don't cower to the BS! They have standards. They would engineer it or focus on safety improvements if it did happen and the show goes on.
