I would think a lien, in this situation, would be relatively safe for the contractors, because a sale can't be completed until they are paid, and the owner of the property is trying to sell. But, not knowing the details, maybe this is standard for a construction project of this size, in that, sometimes, there are some bills not paid due to various reasons? The key is, are progress payments still being made to the steel and concrete subcontractors? If not, we will/may soon see progress come to a halt.

I'm convinced this may never finish, there's always going to be some problem that pauses progress it seems.
That may be true as long as the project remains in the hands of Chinese investors. I know I've got my fingers and toes crossed that one of the large US office REITs like Boston Properties, Vornado or SL Green comes along and picks it up. Naturally, COVID and the flirtation with working from home makes new office investment a risky bet and the office REITs themselves are struggling, but maybe if it gets cheap enough because there are no other buyers . . . .

In addition to office space, there’s no longer a market for high end condos either.

I don't see any significant changes from the previous week. Hope they're still making good progress in getting more steel.

We can see the stairs already taking shape.

I must be blind. I don't see it. I see a bunch of steel supporting the soon to be even taller columns. And, in the drawing, aren't those escalators?

Agree--I think the angled steel is just temporary supports.

Oh right I definitely shouldn't have said stairs. They probably wouldn't even install escalators until major construction is finished. I just hope it doesn't get delayed.

Good to see they're working on getting ready for the concrete pour, and the amount of workers on site.

I wish the city's two tallest skyscrapers would be farther apart, so that the skyline would look broader, and so that the two buildings wouldn't block each other's view as much. But it surely is exciting that within just several years, the height of Transamerica Pyramid (SF's tallest for 45 years) has been surpassed twice!

Agreed, like something just as tall located at The Hub/City Hall area I believe the main places that the view might be blocked would just be from Alameda and some portions of the Bay Bridge. Otherwise, I think the gap between them is similar to 181 Fremont and Salesforce Tower.

I would like to see how it would look like from Twin Peaks, Crissy Field and Dolores Park though

9/1/2020 - Was by there today. I see a concrete on the site & several workers. (photo has a yellow cast from the smoke from the wildfires).

9/1/2020 - I had not been by here for awhile. I see a concrete floor at street level now. A concrete truck was on the site. (a orange hue to the scene from smoke from the wildfires). The wooden boxes apparently cover the massive steel beams.

Nice. Can't wait to see the updates this weekend. Hopefully, we'll see more steel afterwards..
