You "fear" this is the version we are going to get? Related has all but released a PR statement saying "we cheaped the fuck out... Again"... They changed all the renderings to show it and there is no indication they are preparing to do something on site. This is the version we are going to get. You should have been "fearing" something like this would have been the result for the past couple of years when everyone who observed Relateds pattern of halfassery was calling this well before it happened. Yet another turd shit out by Related. Sure it's got nice massing, but it stops there. The only thing lifting this above a Lagrange is the dark window frames.

Well sh*t. That's disappointing, and I suppose expected.

A few things that make it better than the local legend Lagrange: better massing, better floorplans, better proportions, better ground floor, no tacked on balconies, no mansard roof, no cartoonish details.

It won't kill the area to have one less blue glass box. Meanwhile Lagrange has at least a handful of projects in the Chicago area in the cooker. Clearly there's a market, even for that.

Class-Action Lawsuits

I've always fantasized about convincing a law practice to start a new area of practice and hire me as their chief consultant. The practice would focus on large developments that ve'd some significant value out of their developments. Yeah, I know all developers put disclaimers on their marketing shit basically saying they can make any changes they want for any reason, but I can't believe this would hold up in court in a class-action suit. Clearly, at some point, the developers would lose this argument - particularly if 'we' could show that the only reason the change was made was to save $$.

The removal of the bronze detailing was egregious IMO... how far will we let these developers go? What if they decided to change all of the precast to dryvit?

Another action one could take is a well-heeled penthouse buyer going under contract with the condition that the bronze elements will be installed at the top prior to closing

Something going on in the vertical element in the middle:

Might be metal window surrounds.

You can also see something similar on the east facade. Good pics, lots of detail.

Reminds me of the building in the "Crazy Climber" video game. I don't expect any of you to know what I am referring to.

Those new detail shots should quell a lot of complaints. Very harmonious and classic ornamentation.
