December Plan Commission Agenda is up. Lots of dense midrises, only one highrise: https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/dept...n_Hearing.html

1245 W. Fulton Market: From Sterling Bay, remaining at 314 ft but growing to 28 stories tall. 95 vehicular parking spaces and 199 bicycle parking spaces as originally planned. No word on the unit count, but likely will remain 350 units. Proposal from July: https://blockclubchicago.org/2021/07...ordable-units/

been awfully quiet about some rumors/mystery proposals that were floating around the summer for some sizeable office developments. 401 south wacker I believe was one..also mentioned was some twin office towers across the street 301 & 321 south wacker. As well as one tower on north franklin thats been in the works for a decade it seems. Anyone hear any more news or insights on these?

Wasn't this the Chase tower rumors? I am starting to wonder about how feasible a new shiny Chase tower is with the needle moving more towards permanent remote work for a chunk of folks, with a hybrid model for just about everyone else. Jamie Dimon has held his ground on old-school thinking, but he may be shifting his thoughts as reality continues to sink in that many folks will not be coming into the office five days a week much going forward. But.... Then again, I have no idea how the actual numbers pencil out, so maybe Chase will continue to pursue a new tower, because they have gobs of money to do so.

Lol CEOs like Jamie Dimon don't always have say in every single org for stuff like this. They leave it up to various heads of each org at times. What you see publicly isn't exactly always reality behind the scenes. Companies like Chase have had large parts of its workforce in hybrid mode for a handful of months now and the decisions for it in these companies were made long before that.

Don't confuse what a CEO is saying at a large company with what's actually happening. Often times it is actually different.

^ It's in the North/Clybourn area. The ground breaking is for the 10 story and 5 story midrise. The highrise is for a future phase. From the article:

Quote:
A groundbreaking will take place Thursday for two residential buildings on Chicago’s North Side, including a condominium building with affordable housing units and a residential building with co-living units located in one of the city’s higher-income neighborhoods.

The 2 p.m. ceremony for The Shops at Big Deahl by Chicago-based Structure Development LLC consists of a 10-story, residential tower at 853 W. Blackhawk St. and a 34-unit condo building at 869 W. Blackhawk St.

A third building, a 27-story, 327-unit apartment tower, will also be built to complete the project, which is surrounded by a new half-acre park, a community garden, dog park, and a 40,000-square-foot climbing, yoga and fitness gym that opened this fall.

Construction for both buildings will begin in December with completion for the condo building expected by December 2022 and for the apartment tower in March 2023.
....
According to Alderman Walter Burnett Jr (27th), whose ward includes the project, the residential building will be Lincoln Park’s first building with co-living units, which is popular in New York, where rents for a one-bedroom can exceed $1,500 per month.

What is with that name? It sounds like a low-budget suburban mall, something anchored by a JC Penney (no offense) and a car dealership.

^ Big Deahl Productions was one of the first companies to invest in this area decades ago when it was all abandoned warehouses. I'm guessing they still have some kind of partnership stake in the current development plans, and they wanted to keep their name on it.

You've basically described North/Clybourn

Great to hear! Wabash Ave is paralleling Wells St change in a similar timeframe.
