In addition to the gentleman who sent me the link, he said, "Paul Steinke of Preservation Alliance tells me: “A representative of the Goldenberg Group called me last week to tell me this proposal was about to be submitted to PHC. He said the phillyyimby article relied on outdated information and images, which is why what we’re now seeing looks so different. (I have not looked at it yet).”"

Love the design, but Goldenburg doesn't strike confidence. I'll believe it when I see steel.

The PDF that TK posted has the height above sea level as 573'. It's 31' above sea level at the base, putting actual height at 542'.

I'm taking the second tower out of the thread title, as it now seems like a separate development.

You beat me to it. Apparently, whoever wrote that PHC proposal doesn't know how to read elevations, since the proposal actually says that the building will be 573' tall.

I am wondering if there is a sort of unofficial height limit on Broad. Both this and the Arthaus are 542' exactly.

Maybe Virgin hotel picked another location?? We know they’re coming to Philly.

This is also only “Phase 1” of the development. There will be a second phase.

And seconding TK's question - Summers, is this the 500 footer you've been keeping from us?! Not to be greedy, but I hope there's another 500 footer you're keeping a secret.
This is the 500 footer I alluded to

There will be a second phase to this development where the old charter school was and the large surface lots and other properties stretching along South Street.

I was under the impression the Whole Foods was going in this portion of the property, but maybe I’m wrong?

Philly may have broken the City Hall height limit elsewhere, but goddammit if we'll have anyone taller than William Penn on Broad Street.

Sorry guys, I knew about this and couldn't say anything.
Did you mention they’re planning for a fall ground breaking Summers? Thought I read that in one of your posts a few weeks ago.

Wow! Hopefully Virgin is looking elsewhere in the area, but this is a total stunner. Build it!!! Massive design improvement and super memorable. Will have a major impact seen from any angle but love to see some more height stretching south in particular.

Beautiful building! And it'll block Symphony House when looking north. Seeing thsi building + Arthaus + City Hall in one view will be "chef's kiss"!

A few more renderings:

I'm not looking at a gift horse in the the mouth but it's rather wide, the profile from Broad won't be the appearance that it generally shows....and it looks very similar to Art Haus but less graceful.

It's a weird lot, I'm not sure much else could have been done design-wise.

I like it a lot. Arthaus is undeniably better, but I like this one.

It looks like a skinny tower from one E-W direction. But I think this helps achieve the current proposed height.

This will also add to the squeeze of underutilized South Broad - between this and the Blatstein/Post Bros development, the junk in between won't survive very long (hopefully).
