I’m sorry, but that orange on 160 N. Elizabeth looks horrid and tacky.

I disagree, I like the color and think it looks good.

It makes for an interesting coloring contrast. I like it also.

Sounds like the two buildings have a chance. What a waste if they do demo them.

Great news! Here's to hoping that the GSA and federal government see the light and realize it would be an incredible waste to tear these treasures down.

Yeah that one specifically is not great.

166 N Aberdeen had a similar idea but the orange is more muted and has some texture - I really like that one, it's a nice homage to all the orangey-red brick in Fulton Market. And the orange panels have some depth so they add a lot of richness to the facade from different angles.

160 N Elizabeth is literally just a standard window wall with flat orange panels plugged in.

Agreed - 166 N. Aberdeen is much more subtle and pleasant.

160 Elizabeth looks like the child of a normal West Loop office building and one of those plastic Halloween Pumpkin candy baskets. To each their own, but it looks gross to me. These sorts of colors don't age well imo.

It's a shame. The panels were more subtle and light orangey-cream colored in the initial renderings.

Bally's uploaded the PDF for the Committee on Design presentation. I commented on it in the casino thread, but one thing relevant for this thread is they included massings of Onni's proposal for 700 W Chicago. Bally's hotel is 500 feet, so Onni's development will be ~600 feet. Looks to be a 5-tower development. No idea what the unit count will be, but the intersection of Chicago & Halsted is certainly going to be hell

As farfetched as it seems based on its current state, maybe Chicago & Halsted could embrace its future chaotic state by becoming that Shibuya-type intersection some have said the city needs.

Close to the casino, would give the surrounding new developments a bit of character, and the lighting would look cool foregrounded against the Prairie Material yard.

There was no activity when I stopped by on August 25. It's been quiet since April.

Thanks for the update - hopefully this isn't a trend we start to see more of... but I'm afraid that probably won't be the case with rates skyrocketing...

I thought Onni only had the plot of land at the SE corner of Goose Island. Do they also have the plot at the NE corner of Chicago and Halsted?
