Thumbs down

^ Very much agreed.....what is this, amateur hour? This is certainly not the price point at which you skimp on ceiling heights......10' is where they should start..........

Yes, yes, yes on the interiors......I was shocked at how utterly uninspired these first renderings are......I think a lot of the disappointment here - whether it's too-low ceiling heights, interiors, etc surely must reflect Magellan's input, as opposed to Dalian Wanda Group's...........Magellan I don't think 'gets' the super-luxury segment of the market, which, after all is what this tower by all accounts is really going for.....

People will put up with incredibly short ceilings to live in a signature building (Aqua, Hancock) or for luxe finishings (Gold Coast).

^ Way different price point here than Aqua or Hancock........look at the few very high end condos we've seen come out of the ground this cycle - State/Elm, No 9 W, etc: I'm sure they have at least 10' ceilings.....

i find many many condos in chicago to be overpriced for what you get.
what happens is the price points get moved up.
average gets a luxury price. luxury gets an ultra lux price. ultra lux isnt even built.

the reduction in floor-to-floor heights was one of the VE moves to tackle the 900M over-budget number... those frustums might not have much meaning, but they are expensive...

How much did it cost to hire Studio Gang?

Magellan should have gone with an economical architect if this is the end result.
Are the high efficiency windows gone?

The chewed-up "novel form" was a mistake. The shiny glass and horizontal lines are the only interest.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR CHICAGO RIVER ARCHITECTURE FOR YEARS TO COME.

Yeah, way too extremely expensive. You cannot afford of it. Why they don't find a real cheap one, but not too expensive.

Are we to interpret from this new rendering that all exterior glass will be installed perpendicular to the ground? I'm surprised that would make very much difference in cost. Or has that been the scheme all along, but we hadn't seen renderings detailed enough to notice?

If you look closely at the new renders, Gang is still playing around with the window tints like at Aqua. If you divide the floors into groups of three, each group has it's own tint. There's about 4 different tints it looks like.

AFAIK, all the glass is NOT perpendicular to the ground, but more astoundingly, all of the glass is tilted upward, toward the sky.... (!)

BTW, the rendering just posted ^ depicts a pretty inexplicable shadow line or lack thereof for all the 'sloping inward' portions of the building....

That's really amazing. It's like an at-dusk effect.
