it is a lot of blue from the west, especially since the two darker thinner towers in the west loop do not yet exist

they will help break it up if built

That's mostly because of the way the models were composed and the lighting within the program(semi-speculative here). A lot of those buildings are not nearly as blue as shown.

Such a prominent site... I wish it was more expressive on the east facade (down the east-west branch of the river). Or at least taller.

Apparently this is on the plan commission agenda today, with this description:

Quote:
An informational presentation to the Chicago Plan Commission, on a request for site plan approval submitted by WPO South, LLC and Hines Interests Limited Partnership, for the property generally located at 333 West Wolf Point Plaza. The site is currently zoned Planned Development No. 9. The applicant proposes to construct an 815’tall, 1,500,000 square foot office tower and up to 400 accessory, vehicular parking spaces. No other change is being requested to Planned Development No. 98. (42nd Ward)
Anyone at the meeting who can report on what was discussed?

Just a 'courtesy presentation' and judging by how nothing else was tweeted after it (relating to the project) I don't think there was anything in there we didn't already know

That extra 29 feet would've helped it stand out in the area.

It could have a cool twin effect with 110N across the river since they're the exact same height.

The lobby looks awesome BTW, kinda like Comcast Center in Philly

Yeah probably. Curbed reported it was 813 ft in December and now DPD says its 815 feet. Looks like it grew 2 feet.

DPD numbers measure to the underside of highest occupied floor, or something obscure like that.

Some insider with access to bid docs reported a total height of 844' to T/ screenwall, so we'll stick with that figure for now until someone sees updated drawings.

I trust the developer that WPS will turn out great after seeing how well WPE is coming out. Sure we all wish it was a 1k plus tower but I'm more excited for OCS at the moment but am glad the canyon wall continues to deepen!

Jmt....

So is Salesforce legit? Or is it some flash in the pan, like one of those late 90's dotcom companies. Ive just read in a few places they dont think this company is around for the long haul. IE - their stock is currently way overvalued and the bubble is soon to pop.

If so, wondering about the feasibility of this project. I know theres always speculation about companies like this, but just a little concerning that this prognosis has been found in a few places.

As a lease is signed and the bubble hath not yet popped, we’re very likely fine.

If construction financing is landed and all equity partners have put their money into escrow, contracts awarded, and permits issued, then Salesforce can go under the very next day and nothing will stop this project.

I think they'll be around for awhile and they have nicely evolved into something that's increasing overall around the world rapidly. Their revenue last year was $10.5B. Just 5 years earlier in 2013, it was barely over $3B. Their revenue has over tripled in just 5 years. Tons of major companies use them - Amazon, Facebook, AT&T, American Express, Coca Cola, Deloitte, Delta, Ernst & Young, Honeywell, Intel, Kellogg's, Merck, NBA, NBC, Nike, Oracle, Siemens, Toyota, US Bank, etc many more.

You could argue about like 20 years from now, but a company that increases their revenue by over 3X in just 5 years? Come on.

Would all of the construction financing be obtained so early? Or is it portions at a time. It wasnt long ago we were subjected to the concrete husk of the garage of the waterview tower for a few years, or even worse the hole in the ground at the spire site that's still there. Financing appears to be different depending on the project.

Not trying to be a downer, just wondering.
