Even though it'll be a while before this (and other projects) pick up steam, I'm glad to see the direction NY is heading with skyscrapers in general. The entire Hudson Yards projects wasn't there just FIVE years ago. Now, it's a sign of New York Resurgence. Will the current pandemic affect things? Obviously. But I always see skyscrapers as a gradual creation of "the future"; an endless yet amazing progression of life. In time, construction will resume and we'll be taking cool photos from Edge and 1Vand in no time!
NYC will always have the most dynamic and interesting skyline for me, but Hudson Yards's completed look will SOOO give off some "Blade Runner" vibes! We're in the midst of the 21st century now. This isn't years ago when there might have been hope NY would win the Olympic bid. Can you imagine the area now if that had happened? It'd be empty with a new stadium and other Olympic buildings that wouid've been long-forgotten in the midst of the pandemic.
So while some of these current buildings may lack extreme flair, it's as NYguy said a while back about how one doesn't have to like a design to mark its progress. Instead of the Olympics, NY has a new neighborhood that was built over previously-unused spaced. With infrastructure upgrades to boot, I say NY won in the end for not getting the bid.
Seeing 50 Hudson eventually complete (along with the other surrounding projects) once you get above ground from the train station, it's gonna REALLY feel like its own neighborhood! You'll barely recognize you're in NY if you haven't been in 5+ years. Can't wait to see the "New New York"!
TL;DR: I like skyscrapers and these new buildings are cool!
If you ever doubt the architecture of Hudson Yards, just remember this video of what could've been with the Olympic Village
