The beams look similar, but I don't think so. From the Wawa parking lot and the train station I could see a new building to the southeast

Thought this was pretty cool.

South Jersey businessman gives Rowan $30M to name state's first veterinary school

Quote:
New Jersey's first veterinary school now has a name thanks to a $30 million gift to Rowan University from the chairman and former CEO of SuperPretzel maker Snack Foods.

The gift comes from Gerald B. Shreiber, who in addition to founding the South Jersey snack company is a board member of the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and has a pet therapy program named after him at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The gift is the third largest in Rowan's history, and in return the groundbreaking school will be named the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine.

Rowan President Ali Houshmand announced his intentions to open the state's first veterinary school in December 2021. It will be the country's third named veterinary school, Rowan says.

Plans call for a 108,000-square-foot building with a price tag of $145 million. The project will be built at Zee and Mullica Hill roads on Rowan's West Campus in Harrison.

The New Jersey State Legislature committed $75 million to fund the project, which is being designed by Philadelphia-based architecture firm Erdy McHenry. Included is an animal hospital, classrooms and lab space. The university expects to welcome its first class in 2025 and is aiming for a class size of 60 to 70 students.
$145M project for trades in South Jersey is nice. Rowan is growing like crazy, need that Glassboro-Camden line.

Anyone know if the AC Marriott is actively under construction?

AmeriHealth Caritas expanding Ellis Preserve footprint with full-building lease
https://www.bizjournals.com/philadel...Pos=0#cxrecs_s

The region’s largest Medicaid managed care company signed a lease to take the entire five-story, 106,000-square-foot mass timber office building under construction at 203 Squire Drive, according to industry sources and brokerage reports.

In February, a 200-apartment building opened also part of the final phase. A 140-room Marriott AC Hotel, 75,000 square feet of retail made up of restaurants and entertainment space and an 18,000-square-foot wedding venue are also planned in the final phase, opening later this year or in 2024.

King of Prussia Mall update/rumors

Golden Goose, Oliver Peoples, Robert Graham, Stuart Weitzman and Blue Nile are all moving to other parts of the mall. Dior is taking over Golden Goose space, another unnamed luxury retailer is taking over the Oliver Peoples and Robert Graham space, and Chanel is expanding into the Stuart Weitzman and Blue Nile space and becoming a fullfledged Chanel boutique.

This is great to see! Another walkable town center in the making

The retail portion/town center is under construction, but I'm unsure if the hotel is or not. If not, it's only a matter of time. This office building and the hotel are the final pieces of the puzzle.

Looks like a “really big” project is going to be announced by BPG soon at 8th and Orange in Wilmington and that they expect more Crosby Hill type developments moving forward https://delawarebusinesstimes.com/ne...sby-hill-open/

BPG opens ‘spectacular’ Crosby Hill apartments

https://delawarebusinesstimes.com/ne...sby-hill-open/

Quote:
WILMIGNTON – Standing on the 11th-floor balcony of Buccini/Pollin Group’s latest Wilmington project, the Crosby Hill apartments, gives a different view of the city than many are used to.

In many ways, it’s emblematic for what the project is for the firm and Wilmington, as the first newly built apartments to rise in the center city in many years.

apartment project in Wilmington. | DBT PHOTO BY JACOB OWENS

“This is particularly satisfying,” said Robert Buccini, co-founder of the multi-faceted development firm that drives much of the development in its hometown.

“Most of our brand-new construction had been on the Riverfront rather than downtown because there’s so many vacant buildings. But now that the vast majority of buildings have been renovated and put back to use, there was the opportunity to build from the ground up.”

So I decided to search online and see what I can find, and saw this

It seems this project was awarded/approved? last year? so we should see something soon, it also looks like there are some other projects on here that are currently in progress or are also slated to start, @jawn have you seen this before?

^Yeah, the parking lot at 8th and Orange is scheduled to close at the end of the week. BPG has done some soil sampling/testing, and is working with the State Environmental agency on remediation work/plan for the site. Apparently before it was a parking lot, some industrial uses took place on the site, so BPG will need to complete a remediation process before the apt can rise. But that site is definitely BPG's next "big" project for downtown (although the new 4th and Market project -- that has just kicked off isn't that small -- 4-6 floors and 61 units).

Sounds like we should see some renderings for the 8th and Orange project this summer.

Nice the city is really taking off & its a testament on how strong the growth is right now even during this slow economic period.

Just imagine Wilmington & even Philly in 10 Years, it will be a totally different place.

Regarding that awarded list are there any projects on there that are new or unknown?

A tidbit about the Main Line and region housing market...

Main Line home prices up nearly 37% in March with inventory low and some towns 'on total fire'
https://www.bizjournals.com/philadel...inventory.html

The average sale price of a home on the Main Line was up 37% year over year to $927,453 in March, compared to $678,184 during the same month of 2022, according to the HomExpert Market Report from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach. That's while the number of home sold dropped 32% from 249 to 169.

In the 12-county Greater Philadelphia region as a whole, the average sale price increased 8% year over year in March to $391,267 while the number of home sales dropped 26% to 5,478, according to BHHS Fox & Roach.

Lisa Yakulis, an agent with Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty said that anything under about $2.5 million on the Main Line will likely be met with multiple offers in the current market.

Yakulis said she continues to see people migrating to the Main Line from across the East Coast.

Yeah. The inventory situation is insane. My parents live in Upper Chichester Township (which is obviously not the Main Line). The last I checked, there were 3 houses on the market in the entire township. It's a township with close to 20,000 people (so i.e. not small). Houses in the best subdivisions are selling quickly at or over ask for $425k-$600K, prices that have never been seen there. Next door in Garnet Valley, houses are selling regularly for $100K over ask and $1MM is a normal price for an updated SFH with modern layouts.

4 years ago, a house sold on their block for about $200k. 3 years ago 2 similar houses sold for +/- $300K. A few months back, their new neighbor paid $450k. The new neighbor is a single engineer for Microsoft who moved from Northern Virginia. So the inbound movement from people from high cost regions is not just a story of Center City and the Main Line. It's happening all over the area.

1) 1007 N. Market was for BPG's conversion of parts of the Hotel duPont into luxury apartments - 101 Dupont Place - which is open/leasing. https://101dupontplace.com/?gclid=Cj...BoC-IoQAvD_BwE

2) 212 W. 9th Street - was for this rehab/renovation of this building into a few apartments and retail first year.

3) 801 N. Orange Street - waiting on renderings.

4) 116 W. 9th Street - was for the completed Midtown Park apartment building.

5) 805 N. Shipley Street - was funding for the Maker's Alley project - completed.

6) 105 & 107 W. 8th Street - is a little unclear. The address appears to be that vacant lot where the lady is standing (building #'s 103 and 109 - bookend the empty lot). I'm not sure if BPG is planning on new construction here or if they just bought the land to service Maker's Alley (maybe future growth/outdoor space for the bar?? not sure).

7) 317 N. Market Street/4th Street - we know about.

8) 1007 N. Orange Street - was for work/renovations BPG had done in the Nemours Building.

Seems to be the trend right now and I know of a few companies considering swapping one suburban office building for another:

Barley Mill Plaza - Greenville, DE

Although it's just a suburban shopping center on steroids - at least there are some decent mixed-use elements. Just 2 miles outside Wilmington city limits.

33 townhouses - going for 900k and up.
80 luxury apartments.
2 new office buildings.
Lots of stores, restaurants.

And of course, the centerpiece, Wegman's!

Really? It doesn't even seem like anyone is working inside their huge new building at Ellis. Are they planning to bring everyone back into their office?

The retail stores are framed out...the timber office has not started at least structure wise and no hotel yet either. There is a lot of dirt being moved.

Exton Square is beyond sad.

What is so crazy is that there are three major shopping centers within spitting distance...as the middle of Exton is all commercial....and they are all pretty much leased out and the lots are always fairly full on the busier shopping days.

Even the old strip center with the Produce Junction in it is fully leased.

There are so many possibilities for that property...and it's near highways and has mass transit already going there that can connect you to regional rail (or you can just walk 10 minutes up to the Exton station now that they put in a walking path that takes you there.
