College of Western Idaho (CWI) is hoping to build an urban campus on the west end of downtown, with multiple structures up to 12 floors in height and plenty of green space along the river.

looks like the Treasure Valley is about to surpass the 900,000 population mark, according to this article:

^ Omaha is getting a streetcar to coincide with its metro population hitting a million. Maybe something like that in the offing for Boise ?

zero chance. the city has been talking about rail transit for decades but whine about cost instead of thinking of it as a positive investment. our current city administration would rather wait around until someone invents the Star Trek transporter or something.

it's too bad because Boise used to have an amazing streetcar system with a 70 mile loop that connected all of the valley communities. But that was 100 years ago.

in the meantime, another crane has sprouted up on the west side. the red one in the image below is for the Saratoga building:

looks like Boise State got approval for a new on-campus dorm. this one will be on greenbelt.

updated design for the YMCA project. image from boisedev.

design went from 20 floors to 14, and spread the length of the block. I'm not a fan of the design at all. this would be much better to still be taller and less of a wide wall of windows.

nice updates.

the Avery is going to be great. that whole block with its old buildings desperately needed a refresh, and could be an amazing area if the other buildings in that area also get spruced up.

looks like the city council also unanimously approved the new zoning code, which will allow for greater density throughout the city, particularly along transit routes.
