Belgrade, Serbia: Nikola Tesla Airport

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport is the largest and the busiest airport in the country, situated 18 km west of downtown Belgrade near the suburb of Surčin, surrounded by fertile lowlands. It is operated by French conglomerate Vinci Airports. The flag carrier and the largest airline of Serbia, Air Serbia, uses Belgrade Nikola Tesla as their hub. It is also one of the many operating bases for low-cost airline Wizz Air. The air taxi services Air Pink, Eagle Express and Prince Aviation also call the airport their home. In 2012, construction work on the modernization and expansion of the airport began. It was carried out on the expansion and reconstruction of the A-gate and C-gate departure and transit areas. As a result, an extra 2,750 square metres was added. Jetways at the A and C gates were also replaced. Also, there were plans for the construction of a new control tower as the current air control tower was built in 1962. Future expansion of current terminals should see additional 17,000 sqm added, with terminal 2 getting additional 4 jetways.

Zagreb, Croatia: Central Station (Glavni Kolodvor)

Zagreb Glavni Kolodvor is the main railway station of Zagreb, the largest station in Croatia and the main hub of the Croatian Railways network. An 1890 act of the Royal Hungarian Government authorised the building of the main station and maintenance shop in Zagreb. Construction of the 186.5 m (612 ft) long neoclassical style station building began in 1891 and was overseen by Hungarian architect Ferenc Pfaff. Sculptural works were undertaken by the Hungarian sculptor Vilim Marschenko. The station opened on 1 July 1892. It is one of the largest public buildings built in 19th century Zagreb. Reconstruction works were undertaken in 1986–87 (just before the 1987 Summer Universiade) and again in 2006.
