Westboro, Ottawa from McRae Avenue near the Transitway trench along Scott Street. That entire (Scott) street will become more of a cliff, with a line of 20-40 storey towers on one side.

It's not really any better in person. I know moving them is a big process but the fact they kept the hydro corridor with the towers set back does not lead to a pleasing urban environment.

I mean, yeah.

Tower on the right is quite drab and basic. Tower on the left at least will have an interesting top. Some of the other u/c and proposed towers along Scott have far better architecture (if built as proposed).

Inner Ottawa also has an abundance of old telephone poles and wires (that AFAIK aren't going anywhere anytime soon) which doesn't help things either. I find much of Toronto is like this too, though in some cases there at least the excuse is they have streetcars.

Vancouver's in a league of its own, with Toronto being the only city that surpasses it.

Ottawa will never have anything as impressive as Vancouver's Downtown Peninsula, not even when LeBreton Flats is built out.

The buildings are short and stubby but Ottawa does have downtown canyons. (Just not seen in the pictures above.)

Here is an example:
