Was stopped at 51st and millar today and noticed that the taco bell is now a church's Texas chicken.

https://www.churchs.com/

Personally, I've never heard of it, but apparently there are a bunch around throughout. The location seems to have a bit of curse I'd say. Schryers BBQ as well as taco bell didn't last long.

As I recall it opened as a second Broadway Roastery location before it closed and Schreyer's moved in there. "Gourmet" coffee across the street from Tim Horton's in an industrial area always seemed like a bold move.

There are a few Church's here in Vancouver. Very similar to a Popeye's (but better IMO).

The former Fionn MacCool's on 2nd Avenue is sporting leased signs and a notice for a restaurant/tavern liquor permit application.

I saw someone post somewhere else (or maybe in this thread?) that it would be a whiskey bar.

They must be confident that Cineplex will remain there

It appears the 2nd floor space above Drift Cafe (now Jr Cafe) will open as "Bar Stella":

9 Mile brewery closing on 20th, but will be retaining their 21st Street location. Too bad....Riversdale location had a cool vibe and was good for the area. Hope another pub/bisro type place takes over the 20th location.

Plans afoot at the former Sketchy Cactus location at 3rd and 20th. I see they are sticking with the "C" alliteration for the name. Is a Don Cherry themed establishment what this town is craving? Time will tell.

Very creative font choice for the logo. This has winning resto-sports pub concept written all over it /s

Don't think this was posted. Both Ayden and Sticks and Stones are closing.

Didn't the man himself have a Don Cherry's themed restaurant in Ontario back in the 90s?

I wouldn't be surprised if they come after this and shut it down.. or fully endorse it. What the hell do I know about restaurants..

Yes there were quite a few of them in Ontario a few decades back. I'm not sure when they started to fizzle out. There is a revolving ownership establishment north of downtown here that was an officially sanctioned Don Cherry's just a few years ago. The man himself's likeness was not enough to sustain it.

We had one of the Don Cherry's in my hometown downtown Windsor, Ontario. Pretty rough place during Windsor's bar and restaurant heyday pre-9/11.

Pizza and pasta are menu highlights at Liberty Kitchen in Lawson Heights

by Don Rice

Saskatoon StarPhoenix

Published Jul 18, 2023

Businesses and non-profit organizations regularly open and move in Saskatoon. Today the StarPhoenix talks to Kelly Burns, who recently opened Liberty Kitchen near Lawson Heights Mall in the former Famoso Pizza location.

Burns, who also owns 12 Browns restaurants, including the nearby Browns Social House, sees Liberty and Browns as complementing each other with vastly different menus.

I'm sure glad they showed four photos of the owner's face instead of the pizza and pasta menu highlights.
