I went to Polo Park for my annual walk-around last night while waiting to pick up my kid. Is it just me or does it seem like there are a lot more restaurants, cafes and food vendors in there than I remember seeing, say, 20 years ago?

Ate at La Crêperie Ker Breizh on Sherbrook. Fabulous! With Tallest Poppy going, give this one a try down the street.

^I really don’t agree. I think Winnipeg is well represented on the list, and I think I agree with the picks. Keep in mind that Edmonton also only has 2 on the list. Saskatchewan has none, and Halifax has 4.

Dinner for 2 at lots of these places is north of $350. Winnipeg can only sustain 2-4 of these 6-7 nights a week. I think 2 on the list is good. In 2019, Segovia was the only Winnipeg restaurant to make the list.

^I was just thinking the same thing, sigh… I still haven’t tried Petit Socco, but I really want to. Has there been any movement on their old space?

On a note related to Osborne. I see that the Fireside Design folks are working on a restaurant in the old Black Rabiit/Basils building. From their teases on Instagram, it looks Mexican or Latin American.

Chilli Chutney has now opened at the old Swiss Chalet location on Kenaston. As I understand it, they have both a buffet and menu options.

Liking the new ethnic options nearby my area.

Btw has anyone tried out Prairie Donair? They have one in Bridgwater and it’s been my go to spot. The Maple Donair is pure bliss and they have some of the best fries I’ve ever had.

I see they opened a location on Goulet as well. I tried them 2x in Regina a few years back and enjoyed. I recall them being extremely sloppy!

I really like Les Saj on St. James and newer location on Portage across from UofW

The ice cream place Golf Central that was located on Plessis has been renamed Sky Sundae and will be opening July 1 on Ottawa and Brazier.

So close to subzero, hopefully this doesn't hurt either of their business.

People I know in that area reported to me some time ago that Sky Sundae was open. Also from the looks of it that isn't necessarily a new ice cream shop. It is possible the former Golf Central place is taking over operations of Sky Sundae though.

Also Sub Zero has a much more prominent and nicer setup with tables, etc.

I for one welcome the proliferation of shawarma joints. I've never had Osmows but I'd be willing to give it a try when one opens up closer to my neck of the woods. I'd be happy to see the Paramount chain open up a location too.

Same here. I love shawarma, it has to be one of my favorite things to eat. When i first moved here, there was a lack of good shawarma. Things have improved though. The more options the better. I wasn't aware of Osmows. Look forward to trying it.

Speaking of shawarma, I was in the St Vital area earlier today and decided to stop into Lamar Donair for lunch. I got the shawarma platter. A little expensive for the amount they give you. It was good but bon't know if I would go back there. Still a few more shawarma places I need to try, but so far out of the places I have tried Barakas still reigns supreme.

What I would also really like to see more of here are more Mexican and Latino joints. The few tacos places in town are rather lack luster. I would say Brandon does better than Winnipeg when it comes to Mexican and other latino food. I see a lot of Indian places opening up, I have tried a few already will be trying more over the coming months. Any indian food recommendations I would appreciate it.
