With the news that Walgreens is opening a new location within the new McDonald's HQ is there an increased likelihood that the Halsted location will be developed over the next cycle? Or are these two locations far enough apart to both serve the WL?

That same article mentioned that the MCDonalds restaurant within the HQ will be a showcase restaurant that has products from McD's restaurants all over the world. They must be reading this forum!

As much as I would like to see the Halsted location be redeveloped, I feel like they are far enough apart to serve their own crowds.

Yeah, having duplicate services in relative proximity is a good way to reduce car usage/dependence

Plus, it's Walgreens. They're notorious for having stores that are pretty close to one another at times.

Well that's just plain exciting! Glad to see they are respecting their surroundings on Restaurant Row and offering some exotic dishes ... albeit at a much lower price point than most diners on that stretch may be accustomed to

That Walgreens on Halsted needs to move across the street into that old bank building...do it nice like the Wicker Park Walgreens. Then redevelop the spot if vacated.

As an avid McDonald’s (and chain fast food) hater, they could actually do something interesting. Imagine if they had menu items from all over the world, like the very different things that are available at McDonald’s in India?

I doubt they have the creativity to do something like that, but they could actually do something that could appeal to foodies.

^^^ They literally just said in that article that's what the new HQ restaurant will be, a showcase of their menu from around the world...

the new nine-story global home of the Golden Arches that will open in coming weeks will include a FedEx store in about 2,500 square feet and a McDonald's restaurant whose menu will feature fare from the fast-food giant's restaurants around the world, according to sources.

McDonald's actually has a decent quality control on their items... You know what your getting. It will be nice to try their global menu....good call on their part to offer it at new HQ.

True, it's just that the Quality Bar is really low.

I don't think that's fair or true. Their ingredients are good quality and their products are consistent where they want them to be on a global scale.

The 24 story Hotel Tokyo at 320 S. Clinton received its foundation permits yesterday. Didn't think this project would come back from the dead

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hell yeah!!!!!

That shit came outta nowhere—straight from 6 feet under, out like a rocket. Booyah! Love when that happens.

Clearly this got revived by the massive Post Office and Sears Tower projects getting so much investment nearby.

Not really out of nowhere. Someone reported soil sample truck there a few months ago and I dug up the pending building permit for it which indicated it would be issued soonish at the time
