You are correct nothing is guaranteed but Whipper has been dumping on this development since it was a concept, and it's funny it continues to this day even as it reaches towards the sky.

If it fails I will buy Whipper a gift card to Swiss Chalet or where ever else it is grumpy old men like to eat these days.

That one is a head scratcher. Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saudi 's net worth is almost 19 billion USD. Maybe he didn't want to use any of his own money to finish the building as investors walked away. Saudi also has a bunch of other crazy massive projects in the works. This one is probably the most ambitious and is already under construction. It's only 200m wide over 400m tall and will house an estimated 7 million when complete.

I'd say that's a very liberal use of the term "under construction". Technical impossibilities aside I can't see this as anything more than a way to funnel money towards certain design/construction firms. The parts of NEOM that exist are little more than a few subdivisions, an industrial park and a massive royal compound.

The proposed Line in Noem LOL

It's basically an extreme version of transit oriented development or planning around the Crosstown LRT.

I was talking with one of the top structural engineers on The One and although he said the final, final height is still be in worked out it will definitely not be taller than 330m. It will likely finish in the mid 320m range.

Under construction but already pretty in the evening. On completion this will have LEDs outlining the entire tower profile.

A good chunk of the classic views of the CN Tower between the TD towers will be lost on completion (the tall roof structure/crown of 160 Front W will at least reach the bottom of the first CN pod from this pov).

Yes that drone video is already posted everywhere ... but it's not u/c in Canada so I'll have to file a complaint with the SSP overlords (the ones who fuzzed out thousands of hours of illustrators' work).

On second thought, I'll just issue a warning. Do it again and I'll have your badge.

Already forming the first mechanical level after the last big pour.

Benito

You can see an angled mechanical corner being formed… I think these may be supports for angled beams (mech is inset from a typical floor-plate).

First cladding soon on the mega-columns with mounts being installed.

He could be referring to the roof height as opposed to the decorative structural expressionist elements at the very top.

Not aware of any elements above the mechanical penthouse. A top structural engineer would have drawings with the specific height. If that is still to be determined than I assume its not clear sailing for the height increase and there's a willingness to settle on a lower height increase.

The steelwork is going to get very interesting now as they shape the curving upper floors and crown above the concrete core.

Not sure from where the structural engineer is getting these height estimates, but the roof-top garden terrace wrapping the mech(?) box* has of course been in the plans from the beginning (incl. the 94s version awaiting approval)... so it's obviously architecturally part of which ever height is built.

And the "crown" doesn't really play as structural to my eye but maybe it is. Wondering if the "box on top" is actually the *mass-tuned damper given the other mechanical levels there are. I forget... will have to check.

Really happy with how 160 Front is turning out. The finishing is better than I expected. Glad such a prominent location is getting a quality build.
