Chiveman did a nice Photoshop for us with the Block 185 Tower included into The Republic rendering. Block 185 (left) and The Republic (right).

Of course, missing from this rendering is 6 X Guadalupe, Block 71 Tower, 300 Colorado, 305 Colorado, and The Avenue.

Block 185 and The Republic will beat the Frost Bank Tower for tallest office building in Austin. Block 185 Tower today would be Austin's 3rd tallest.

Actually, sometimes I wish floors (windows) were numbered. It would make counting them easier...

This and the Republic will go a long way to breaking the boxy nature of Austin's recent towers.

Balances out the skyline too. Surely will complement the riverfront. In the last 5 years, the skyline has ballooned.

Nice! Although the parking is unfortunate. (I know.....the city is part of that auto-dominated culture)

Article says it's from the same architect as WFC in NY and Salesforce in SF, which would be Pelli & Pelli, though I don't see it in the "New Work" section on their site just yet.

It sort of reminds of the design of the Paris courthouse by starchitect Renzo Piano, recently built.
I didn't think that one would beget any offshoot cause it's weird and looks somewhat authoritarian or intimidating like some Soviet modern architecture, but why not?
It's not uninteresting and the interiors seem greatly designed.
Trees are a nice touch too, at least if they actually grow.

It was announced today that Google is taking all of the nearly 800,000 square feet of space in the tower. Also, we finally have some proper renderings.

Wowzerz. Stellar design. Setbacks could use some golden ratio proportions for an more eye-catching design, but this works just fine.
