Seen from O’Hare, this building adds a really nice new peak to the skyline.

Absolutely fantastic shots everyone.....

It's been so enjoyable to spend the Summer here while watching this thing finish up. I will forever have a nostalgic attachment to the building for this very reason.

Anyone see the Instagram post yesterday on the liveonechicago page? its for the 1 bedroom apartment at 23 West. My GF and I were shocked at how tacky and cheap it is. Tiny cramped kitchen with no counter space. Washer/Dryer right in the living room. And what seems to me to be wasted space on a big hallway. And when you go to the website I saw it was a 1br/1ba 693 sq feet for about $2700. Phew! I have yet to look at the condos. This is a rental so I guess I shouldnt expect top shelf design, ammenities etc?

Is that metal framing at the top going to be covered in glass?

I still hope they surprise us and add 30' of glass to jump over 1000'. The design looks slightly truncated if the center mass doesn't exceed the last setback by at least double the height of that final setback...

The international supertall minimum is 984 feet or 300 meters so very little height would be needed, developers don't care about these things though

I think there will be another block on top of this yet. If you look at https://jdlcorp.com/projects/one-chicago there are four 'edges' on the north side of the tower, whereas the current metal frame only forms the third. But I think this will still only get it to the originally planned height (not 300m), but the form should look less stubby.

Maybe, but what will hold the next "block" of glass? The parapet framing that's there already looks pretty flimsy.

Was in Chicago Wed for my 20th wedding anniversary. Old Town, Wicker Park and River West. Going to and from all those areas, this building simply dominates. It feels like one of the big boys because it's so much farther west.

Sorry guys, I took another look at the drawings. The top of the tower is the top of the installed metal framing. The penthouse is 4 panels of glass tall above the last occupied floor.

I love the unabashed soaring vertical form of this tower - but those balconies good and well earn a demerit, as they clearly detract from it.

lol, I guess so. Yeah you're right that is it. Just curious how they get that 4th 'edge' from the renderings on the north side as it looks like the metal is flush with the concrete but we'll see how they do it.

Making significant progress to the amenity area in the past week. The pool is much larger than any in the area.

Yesterday they lifted the HVAC fan things (I think that's the technical term) to the taller tower.

Does anyone know when the Whole Foods is slated to open?

edit I can't figure out how to make my photo show up: https://imgur.com/a/x8SFgmg
