Here's a link for St. Louis Park, there's about a dozen and a half projects listed. https://www.stlouispark.org/governme...pment-projects

Hopkins and St. Louis Park both have had quite a few 4-7 story projects this building cycle. In SLP they have been spread about a bit more-- along the future LRT route, in the Excelsior/Grand area, and near the Minneapolis border in the West Lake area. I believe there is a current proposal for something in the 10-12 story range near West Lake on the SLP side of the border. Hopkins has worked hard to add density to the edge of their historic downtown area, and in the area between their downtown and their future LRT station. Hopkins recently reconstructed 8th Ave between the future LRT station and Main St with wider sidewalks, a cycletrack, and better streetscaping. Golden Valley is another that has had a lot of construction in the West End area near the Golden Valley/SLP border, though these projects aren't the sort of semi-TOD that SLP and Hopkins have seen over the last few years.

Yea I posted a link to the SLP projects shortly after the Edina link. No doubt there will be plenty along the SW LRT line in the coming years.

New Public Office Building -- 11 Floors -- Office & Retail -- 10/31/19

The flag seems to imply to me that the core is topped out.

It's nice to have an idea how tall this will be. Not so much but the design is exceptional.

Why the west side of Calhoun? What's there to walk to besides walks around the lakes? Why not the east side, walking distance to Uptown?

That and there is a 2 year old hotel that just opened in the heart of Uptown. I don't think the market would support 2 over there.

The West Lake area is actually really hot for certain demographics right now. Not only is there the lake itself, but also Dean Parkway, Cedar Lake, Lake of the Isles, the Cedar Lake Trail, and the Greenway are all very accessible from this location. There's the new LRT station under construction. Although it's a fairly auto-oriented site, the Calhoun Village shopping center and adjacent commercial uses do provide most of your daily needs-- Whole Foods, Walgreens, about a dozen fast-casual and casual sit-down restaurants, etc. The West Lake area seems to be very popular with people who want one foot in the city and one foot in the western suburbs. And I think there's a travel market for folks who want the same thing. Not business travelers, but leisure travelers. It does seem like the kind of area where the difference in hotel business between the summer and winter months would be very dramatic, though.

This is sad. Nimby's!! New plan pares Dinkytown apartment tower from 25 floors to 9
The shorter building would have 300 rental units; city planning staffers have concerns about the proposed design. http://www.startribune.com/new-plan-...-10/564223292/

I'm not saying that we would have had a great design had the building been taller, but the shorter design is about as bland as a building can be.

I agree. This new proposal seems so massive. So blocky. I don't know what type of clientele they are looking for but the external design can go a long ways in helping to break that up.
