https://chicagoyimby.com/2023/07/tow...on-market.html

Created individual thread to follow construction of this new Fulton Market area residential tower. A related and adjacent office tower is planned at 315 N May Street, however, given the current national state of office-only towers, that may not go up during the current construction cycle...if it starts growing anytime soon, will merge this thread with a new one for that.

I thought the unofficial threshold for a dedicated Chicago thread was at (or at least near) 500 feet tall? Or are we counting this a meagdevelopment because it's two towers wrapped into one PD?

There's been a certain amount of laxity conforming to the old requirement, considering that shorter buildings in other cities have individual construction threads, and with much more bland designs, thus why I created one for this. If other mods feel the need to delete this thread, they can DM me. For now, I think given the fact that it is an interesting design AND it is part of a larger, multi-building development, having a dedicated construction thread seems appropriate.

This is a pretty sharp project. Not really familiar with the archtiect - ESG.

West Loop has unofficially been the exception since there's so many projects just under 500 feet. So by not including them it makes it seem like nothing is happening there, even though much of the highrise construction is now concentrated in West Loop

Trammell Crow has used ESG for there two prior Fulton projects: Fulton Labs, which looks kinda cool; and West End on Fulton, which looks like a cheap-o paneled piece of crap.

Glad to see this one and nearly 1/4 of the way up. Definitely one of those "I will not miss what was there before" projects. Formerly the Ryder truck rental parking lot and building. Not an RIP

Nice! Isn't that one supposed to be a little taller?

That one is to be office. It'll be interesting to see if the developer sticks with that programming. Maybe they potentially have a tenant or perhaps they'll flip that site to residential.

About 410' if memory serves.

Not to beat a dead horse, but following up, again, because I thought this was very amusing...stuff like this has a dedicated thread:

https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=252797

It's not in the Skyscraper & Highrise Construction thread (yet), but yeah.

I think this thread should be edited to include the proposed office building at 315 N. May

410'
26 stories

They were approved together and there's some movement on that site with demo permits. Might as well be apart of the same thread.
