Awesome shot - particularly with West Midtown in the background. Amazing to see how that area has changed since I was at Tech.

I feel the same. I went to Tech in the 90's. I eventually left though...

I was at Tech from '80 to '85! Imagine the changes I've seen! haha.. When I was there at Smith Dorm right across from the Varsity in 1980 I was watching the Bellsouth tower being built.

That's one of the reasons I love to keep up with Atlanta. Everyday is opening day, literally. It's like a different city every decade. Back when I was at Tech, I really thought that Atlanta was urban. Just imagine how Tech students experience the city now!

I wonder how long it will be before someone is willing to pay the Varsity the probably very high price they'd ask for that lot.

I hope someone buys out that whole eyesore. It's falling apart.

The piece of land where Goodfellas sits could also be a possibility. Something similar to what CA Ventures has in the corner of the NS development could be built there.

Those four corners need to be intensely developed. Atlanta is now at a point and has the critical mass to ramp up the intensity along corners and corridors to link pieces of the city together.

As much as the Varsity is so iconic, it is time for it to go away or move to another place. I love history, but it really is an eyesore now.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I really hope the older low rise buildings where across from the Varsity DON'T get redeveloped. We need some historic buildings in this city....not just sterile glass office buildings everywhere and I'm pretty sure the Varsity is protected.

I thought it very purposely was not protected? I believe the owners are waiting to cash out on the land value.

I always thought the Varsity would sell for a development with the intention of being a part of it. Them anchoring the bottom 2-3 floors of a massive tower would be cool.

So are we going to want to preserve that BP once electric cars are a norm? Come on. This is valuable piece of land, that could potentially house thousand plus people one day. The church behind it is historic. Preserve that.
