Moderators, where are you? We need these posts moved to the discussion thread, not the project thread. Calm down, y'all.

I'm sorry it got to this point, I won't chime in on this hotel again. The blanket insults triggered me, I know better and apologize.

Trammell Crow Plans 12-Story Apartment atTechnology Enterprise Park

https://whatnowatlanta.com/trammell-...gia-tech-site/
Quote:
Trammell Crow Company is moving forward on the residential side of Technology Enterprise Park, Georgia Tech‘s mixed-use biomedical and life sciences campus project in Downtown Atlanta, according to a new special administrative permit application filing.

Submitted by planning and design engineering company Kimley-Horn, development plans call for a 12-story, 275-unit apartment project with ground-floor retail space southeast of the intersection of North Avenue NW and Northyards Boulevard NW. Totaling about 325,000 square feet, the new building would rise to a maximum height of 169 feet just southeast of the campus’ existing research and lab building.

I think part of it is the low quality elevation drawing showing material locations. If we saw a 3D rendering, may be easier to tell. What we're getting is a 6 and 12 floor (I count 14 in the elevation) building with ground level retail and street grid extensions in a location that, let's be honest, is not great at the moment. Seems like a win to me. The roof deck facing downtown looks nice. I imagine this may turn out ok.

Looks really similar to the 'dancing goats' apartment building built in the Atlanta Gas light parking lot across the street from the Midtown Marta station. I speculate it will turn out similarly.

Fort McPherson masterplan emerges

https://urbanize.city/atlanta/post/t...ent-masterplan
Quote:
Unlike Perry’s studios, the new entertainment district would be open to the public and include offices, restaurants, retail, and a theater district, according to the development authority. In his own news release, Jakes said he intends to develop affordable and workforce housing to meet a national need.

SHAPE—an acronym for Studio H Architecture Planning Environments—has partnered with Perkins + Will architecture on the designs. The firm’s work in Atlanta includes Castleberry Station, a 50-townhome project in Castleberry Hill, Herndon Homes senior living, and masterplan designs for both Vine City and Atlanta University Center.

It's only 4 miles away from Downtown Atlanta. I don't see how it's urban sprawl.

I live on the southside, and I'd really love to see this (or a good version of it) happen. There's a lot more talent in the tri-cities area than many think. I think it could be a big success. (pls god remove the perimeter barriers and re-think them)

This was announced last week but I don't recall seeing it on here. It's within the city of Atlanta thanks to the annexation. This would provide on-campus housing, increasing walkability. The completely separated parking deck is horrible, but it's designed to be surrounded by additional apartments in phase II.

Proposed Emory University graduate student housing:

Once Marta expands light rail to Emory campus, The parking requirements may lessen.

And the parking ratio is pretty good. 275 spots for 500 beds in phase I, and then an additional 400 or so beds in phase II with no more parking added. They're assuming almost all of these grad students will walk to class/work, which I think is accurate. I just really don't like how the parking deck in phase one is a big ugly stand-alone deck.

400 Bishop St. will now be apartments

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...partments.html
Quote:
Charleston, S.C.-based Middle Street Partners is seeking city approval to rezone the approximately 1.5-acre undeveloped site at 400 Bishop St. NW from industrial to mixed-use. The developer plans to build a nearly 250,000-square-foot apartment project with 278 units at the intersection of Bishop and Mecaslin streets in the Loring Heights neighborhood.
