Ooph. Well mistakes happen, maybe someone should send the author a friendly DM? He usually does an amazing job covering city council shenanigans.

I was told there were suppose to be multiple West Loop projects that were assumed to start this summer but they havent yet. Wasnt that big empty vacant lot next to the timeout market suppose to get ready for construction in july? it was said to include a gibson restaurant

I have to wonder if there may be a little "recession cold feet" slipping in.

A few projects have stalled

That's my take too, especially when the West Loop is heavy on the tech/startup front. Companies in this sector have been shedding jobs over the last few months.

A lot of the hotel projects over there have also fizzled. Multifamily is still going strong.

Ah, thank you. I drove past those drill rigs on Saturday (on May Street) and couldn't for the life of me recall which project they were for.

I think there should be a minimum of like 6 cranes for sure going up before the end of the year, but I'm guessing probably more like 10.

eg basically guaranteed
330 W Huron
741 N Wells
Probably 2 in North Union
360 N Green
210 N Aberdeen

Possibles
Many in Fulton Market
RIU Plaza
344 N Canal
1130 N State (old Barnes and Noble)
535 N St Clair
Salvation Army Development Timeline?
Whatever is going on with Lincoln Yards, Riverline, The 78
Probably other stuff I don't know about.

1150 W Lake St should soon get a construction crane. 626 S Wabash got construction permits. 633 S LaSalle should (eventually) get a construction crane.

225 N Elizabeth/1245 W Fulton has a pending permit as well, so that's another Sterling Bay project starting soon

Parcel 1 or the tribune tower getting started would make up for the lack of new construction lately 100%. Would love to see another skyline altering tower spring up again. The last one was One Chicago which is fantastic.
