^^ now THAT'S an actual flag design.

And light years better than Utah's current train-wreck.

^ at least Quebec has a real flag.

Newfoundland and Nunavut have actual flags too, but they're very strange.

The canadian national flag is a home-run.

Nunavat I understand, it's an Inukshuk. With weird colors for some reason. They should just rip off Greenland's flag...

Not sure why Newfoundland/Labrador have a sideways lumberjack with a boner for a flag.

I like The Yukon Territories flag, but Manitoba and ON. Who plagiarized who? Nunuvat invokes "OMG, They killed Kenny!"
If we are going to go down the license plate path that a few posters were alluding to, then New Hampshire wins.."Live Free or Die"..love it!

IIRC, the Ontario and Manitoba flags were adopted by Conservative provincial governments who were pissed off that the federal Liberals had abandoned the red ensign for the maple leaf flag.

Guys, all those US-Canadian flags might be interesting for, I don't know, but it's clearly off-topic, not only to the thread but to the entire forum.

It would be better to have another thread open to it, maybe on the Skybar.

Acadie (what is Acadie btw?)
The ancestors of the Cajuns (Cajun is a corruption of "Cadien" which is a short form for "Acadien").

Acadie or Acadie was another smaller French colony among the North American colonies that made up New France. Acadie was roughly made up of Canada's current Maritime provinces.

The biggest French colony was actually in the St. Lawrence valley and called "Canada", and is considered somewhat equivalent to present-day Quebec.

The British conquered Acadia some decades before Canada, and seized the Acadians' land and deported all of them that they could catch or find. Leaving them pretty much to their own devices, which is how some ended up in Louisiana.

But some of them remained in Acadia, and some of them came back from exile.

I myself am Acadien (born and partly raised there) descended from those who escaped the deportation, though I've lived in Quebec for quite some time. And Lio45 is a Québécois of Acadian origins.

My surname is actually extremely common in Louisiana, so I guess these are all long-lost cousins of mine. Though they spell it with an X at the end down there.

I think Maryland has the best flag by far.

imo Washington has one of the worst state flags. You can't just have a dude's portrait as your state flag. Hell naw. Plus it's just the state seal... and it says so, right there on the flag...

There are a handful of good ones (the ones that actually look like flags) but unfortunately, most state flags look like they were designed by your grandma who just picked up photoshop.

I like Arizona's flag; it reminds me of the Tibetan flag. I remember when my partner and I first drove into Arizona together, and the "Welcome to Arizona" sign had their state flag design, and my partner said "It looks like the flag of Tibet" and I said "I was thinking the exact same thing."

I like their new flag. It's one of the better ones. Solid design, great colors.

Utah is the Beehive State. Something to do about how industrious they perceive themselves to be or something.

Personally, I'm fucking terrified of bees.

^a cursory glance tells me that Texas and New Mexico have the best flags of the lot (a lot of really bad flags, that is).

Worst flag in history?

Personally I don't trust God. He's done a lot of things to betray my trust over the past few millennia.
Like striking down family members in the prime of their life, for no good reason. While some horrible people live long lives, inflicting damage on so many others.

The North American Vexillological Association ranks New Mexico and Texas 1st and 2nd, respectively, among North American subnational flags.

California's is the best one imo. It's got an iconic animal and is completely legible from afar, which many of these other flags, are not. And the colors pay homage to the state's Mexican heritage. I think the text "California Republic" adds to the allure rather than detracts. It also makes for some good parodies.
