City Murder Rates

Thunder Bay is at 1 murder for 2015. I assume that it hasn't changed.

So, as of 2 hours and change it is no longer Canada's murder capital and is one of the safest cities in Canada.

Québec City has come in at 2. Apparently I missed a murder in St. Raymond (some 40-50 minutes from Québec City) that took place in May (the body was found then) and resulted in charges in August.

Lévis again ends the year without a murder.

That gives us a rate of 0.2 per 100,000 for the Greater Québec City area.

Yes.

2015 ended the year with 298 homicides, but will likely be revised down by several counts when non-criminal homicides are filtered out. The official count is usually out within a week of New Years.

The nation of El Salvador had an abysmal year in terms of crime, with police reporting 6,646 murders through December 30. The 31st had at least three more murders.

For its population of 6.38 million, that's a rate of 104.2, which is probably going to be the highest in the world of any nation that actually collects statistics and isn't at war.

January 1st has already seen at least 15 violent deaths that have been reported, though seven of those appear to be gang-members killed by police.

Portland ended with 28 murders and 31 homicides overall; Vancouver with 15 murders.

Their both Safe, 2.3 Per 100,000 is not that high really (Much better than the American Averages) & some cities in Canada have been this high too! Like ex: Calgary, Edmonton, Surrey, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina etc.
But yes you are right by virtue of simply being in
Canada Thunder Bay is safer overall.

Maryland's murder rate is going to be really high this year since Baltimore had such an increase and so did Montgomery County and Prince George County.

2014 Maryland had 21 more murders in all then Baltimore finished the year with in 2015.

Baltimore has always been terrible. But in 2015 it hit a new low:

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/bloody-e...all-time-high/

Quote:
BALTIMORE -- Baltimore's murder rate is the highest per capita in the city's history -- and the past few days have been bloody, reports CBS Baltimore.

Baltimore's 342nd murder was a stabbing on the east side. Number 341 was a shooting; a man was shot over and over again on the west side.

Well Columbus did not end the year well...with 15 homicides in December(the most for any month of the year) including 9 murders in the last 8 days of the year. I guess Tocin007 was closer to the truth than I thought. 99 homicides for 2015, up from 89 last year. population 2014 estimate at 835,957. 11.84 per 100,000 rate.

Inner suburb of Whitehall even worse-9 homicides for a town of 18,062 in 2010.

I was, but I'm sorry before for rubbing it in though, sorry to hear that, just glad you weren't one of the victims (hopefully no one close to you was either). But for a U.S. City its not that bad I guess, (Their are a number of places worse than Columbus in the U.S. in 2015, Baltimore, D.C. Philly, Chicago, Atlanta, St. Louis, New Orleans, Memphis, Detroit, Miami etc.) So you where on to something. For Us however in Calgary/ Canada Population 1.25 Million we had 33 Murder's this year (Which was a bad year for us). Calgary Police said it was the busiest year we've had in a Decade! -> http://www.calgarysun.com/2015/12/29...lmost-a-decade

Also here's a Photo of the 505 Homicides our city has had in the past
25 years! ->

& Here's the Article By the Herald! -> http://calgaryherald.com/news/crime/...-about-calgary

The Metro Had 1 in Airdrie (Pop. 61,000) so 34 for the Calgary Region (Almost 1.6 Million).

Final Year End Numbers for 2015:

Wilmington, DE -- 26 homicides (city of 72,000 approx).
Philadelphia, PA -- 277 homicides (rate 17.7 per 100,000).

can't find Camden, NJ or Chester, PA.... ??
