A projected murder rate of 4.9 is considered great? Or perhaps you were just referencing to the other numbers.

In Boston, murders are up 300% (3 to 9), but major crimes are down 8% (2,471 to 2,285) YTD.

In Chicago, murders are down 11% (95 to 85), but major crimes are up a concerning 49% (8,535 to 12,726) YTD helping explain why this has become such an issue in the mayor's race.

In Los Angeles, murders are down 41% (73 to 43) and major crime is down 7% (21,585 to 20,232) YTD.

In New York City, murders are down 19% (73 to 59) and major crime is basically unchanged (20,561 to 20,571) YTD.

In Washington, DC, murders are up 30% (33 to 43) and major crime is up 24% (4,790 to 5,949) YTD.

yea LA is def out of that crazy 20-21 period. I think the new mayor is helping shutting alot of that down. But like I said, crime really changed around last September or so.
LA murders must be down like 60 percent from 2021 probably.

Philadelphia murders are down 18% (99 to 81) and major crime is down 6.85% as of March 5th, but still way too high for Philadelphia, and also porbably the reason crime has been a major topic of the Mayor's race in this city as well.

Much less than they used to be. Recall the days when NYC hovered around 2,000 murders annually.

Strange how the ratio of murders to major crimes is so different between different cities.

It’s almost all car theft (not even carjacking) of Kias and Hyundais that’s creating the big difference right now. Most other crime categories of the past month are flat in Chicago right now.

^ can someone explain to me why those particular car brands are so highly sought after by thieves?

Why is my neighbor's Hyundai Tucson at a much greater risk of being stolen than our Mazda CX-5? They don't seem terribly dissimilar from the outside? Both are about as bog standard as small crossovers get.

Kia and Hyundai didn’t install anti-theft software and mechanisms (worth about $20 per customer) in their vehicles from the last decade. You can steal them in 30 seconds just with a USB device.
