In all honesty, I have used the Park n Fly about 3 times (once over Christmas holidays). Maybe I got lucky going 3 for 3 so far.

And maybe I was just unlucky. I seem to recall they have intercoms at the stops, but either the one I was at didn't work or the response was repeatedly "It's coming soon" which was not all that reassuring... my ire in those moments/minutes/HOUR probably blanked out anything else.

I can laugh about it now.

Manitoba (1880s, when it was still a postage stamp province).

Went to the aquarium. I don't think I've ever seen, or at least noticed, a map or graphic of the Great Lakes that included Nipigon. Of course, this says Great Lakes Basin and not just Great Lakes. St. Clair is usually included because it's not on the outside of one of the Great Lakes like Nipigon (above Superior) is but rather it's in the middle of Huron and Erie. And most of the maps show not just the lakes but the conjoining rivers (S. Mary's, St. Clair, Detroit, Niagara, sometimes the beginning of the St. Lawrence.

They also had some educational stuff about locks. I've only seen them in action maybe half a dozen times. One day I will have to go on one of the cruises that takes you through.

True Size maps have been done to death, but they're still fun. If Vancouver was located roughly where Dublin, Ireland is, then St. John's would be more or less where Astana, Kazakhstan is.

And if St. John's was located at Dublin, Ireland, then Vancouver would be near Fort Severn, Ontario.

Or... LA and (roughly) Bermuda.

At Game Time Social in Burlington they have a display with all the neighbourhoods of the city. I'm pretty sure most people in Burlington don't know what neighbourhood they live in. For any locals, this used to be the location of former clubs Club 108 and Zu Bar. Some good memories there. And I must say, the $30 I spent on credits surprisingly lasted for many, many, many games. So many that I only went there today because we didn't nearly finish the balance the first time a month ago. Wouldn't get nearly the same value at Dave and Busters.

There are a few neighbourhoods that stand out for one reason or another. Like for newer subdivisions where they have a sign built into some brick structure at one of the roads leading into the neighbourhood. And for newer subdivisions in general, they were marketed heavily so it permeated into the brains of many residents. Examples would be Millcroft and The Orchard. Maybe Alton Village.

Brant Hills always stood out to me because it seemed to be the most affordable neighbourhood so it would always show up when searching for a home. It's in the far NW corner of the populated portion of the city afterall. Tyandaga is an affluent area situated on an incline heading up to the Escarpment. Aldershot even more affulent and situated along the lake. No one would say Central. They'd say Dowtown.

Curiously, the two obvious semi rural neighbourhoods up in the Escarpment, Lowville and Kilbride, are missing. And that pic for Maple includes Burlington Beach. I thought Burlington Beach was its own neighbourhood. It certainly stands out from anywhere else in Burlington so I thought it would be its own thing but I guess there's not enough population to be officially designated as such.

These places I'd say at least half of all adults might know where they live. For the rest, I'd be surprised if one third could name their 'hood.

It was Big Bucks by the mid-1990s, and before that Tequila Willie's. Ivy Kitchen between BB and Game Time Social, though my last experiences there ended around 2001 or so before Ivy became the name.

There was a Club 54 on Harvester, and it was around a LONG time. There was a local weekly comedy show that filmed there.

Though me and my friends were from Hamilton and Stoney Creek, we spent most of our weekend evenings in Burlington at Tequila's or Big Bucks or Emma's Back Porch on the waterfront. There were a few places downtown in Hamilton we'd frequent (e.g., Texas Border on King William, which has had a variety of names since then; Tailgate Charlies on John, which is also different now) but most of the time we travelled across the Skyway.

Hmmm... I thought the club I went to like 20 years ago on Brant in Burlington was Tailgate Charlies. I know the name but didn't realize it was in Hamilton. Now I have no idea where it was. Goes to show, what I thought was something somewhere is not always going to be accurate given the duration of time that has passed.

I do remember Sharkeys in Oakville that backed onto Sixteen Mile Creek. One of the most unique bars/clubs ever. Owner made a killing selling that to a condo developer.

I went to Hess Village in The Hammer a couple of times way long ago. No idea of what the places were but I do remember seeing a Rod Stewart cover guy singing on the street with an audience in seating. He was a dead ringer in looks and voice. I actually for years thought it might actually have been him.

I used to watch the Comedy and Club 54 show on late night TV back in the day. When I lived in Burlington a decade ago, that was when I realized where it was located as I'd pass by it once in a while. I planned to attend one day but never did. I've still only been to Yuk Yuks once, which I think was the one at Dixie and Elginton in Mississauga. And also saw some local standup at Fallsview Casino one time. And I've only seen a major standup once, which was Steven Wright at the Elgin across from the Eaton Centre. I've been meaning to get out and see more standup.

I think there was more than one Tailgate Charlie's. I don't remember a location in downtown Burlington, but there may have been one that didn't last long.

There was also this place on South Service Rd. in Burlington which may be the site you were thinking of. It was a dance bar, oddly situated and wasn't called "Play Bar" when I went there... Streetview has it as Zu in 2009, but it used to be called something else that was forgettable (maybe Splash?). I don't remember it being Club 108 though.

Now that I think about it, Club 108 was Dixie and Eglinton in Sauga. The sister club was NRG IIRC and that was in Burlington and is what preceded those names you mentioned. It was so long ago that it was there that I saw the Stars beat the Sabres in the SC final on the screen to the side while I was drunk and dancing up a storm.

Let's see if I got this right. Club 108 was run by the owners or affiliates of 107.9 FM and would simulcast the music and DJ from Friday night at the club on the air on the station. Then the following night they'd do the same from NRG. This was so long ago that I could be totally off.

Regardless, despite all the good times I had, clubbing was and is incredibly dumb. Tremendous waste of money. The bouncer makes you wait in line in the cold to give the impression that it's popular spot and you need to wait for people to leave so they don't go over capacity. Then you paid $10, sometimes $5 sometimes $20 to get in. Then drop like $8-$10 for a beer from some cunt/douche bartender who expects a $5 tip. Meanwhile, the DJ is playing Britney Spears and completely misreading the audience. And I went clubbing over 150 times. Oh to get those days back and saved the money and invested and become a millionaire now.

Crescent by the QEW.

I used to find it odd that most of Burlington's 'nightlife' was outside the downtown. There have been a couple of pubs, lots of restaurants, and the aforementioned "Emma's" (now closed) in the centre of town, but the livelier bars have always been out by the freeway or in industrial areas (e.g., megadude mentioned NRG, which was closer to the central city but in a plaza dominated by automobile-related shops next to the CN mainline). Having lived in Burlington a long time I came to believe that's how the influential people wanted it... keep the riff-raff and noise away from their turf. Or maybe it's just typical suburbia.

A shirt company started making these shirts as a joke on what constitutes Northern Ontario. The shirt jokingly says where the 400 meets the 11. However, as is common for some reason, the spot is not located accurately. That dot is above the bottom portion of Georgian Bay while the fork of those two highways is actually below, in the town of Springwater, on the border with Barrie.

I must admit, I refer to anything north of Barrie as "up north", but not Northern Ontario.

There are two crossroads/intersections in the Hamilton area with the word "Corners" in the name: Ryckman's Corners and Clappison's Corners. There's an intersection south of Stratford called Flannigan Corners that shows up on a map, but I've never heard anyone around here use it.

Any more "Corners" out there?

There are a few more corners in the Hamilton area. My favourite is Bollocks Corners at Highway 8 and Brock Rd.
