Does anybody have a credible explanation why it took more than half a year to move/dismantle a stricken ship?

What would have happened if this thing was leaking oil or some toxic product? Would it have still taken this long?

They would have pumped it out, and then been even slower in the dismantling and disposal of the barge, as they would have had to be even more careful.

They didn't start the actual dismantling until almost August. Weekly updates were posted here with video:

Seems like the barge will be gone by the end of the day. Only a few bits of the frame left to drag out of the water.

There just seems to be a tiny bit of the barge structure near the waterline left.

Barge just showed up again so they'll pull out the rest of the bottom of the barge. There was actually quite a bit left to pull out.

Edit: It's gone

Maybe they should rename it Wreck Beach.

True to form, at this moment the bike lane around the west convention centre have already been cleared of snow and is spotless. The pedestrian track? Clearly, the "transportation" department didn't get the memo that bikes are not uber alles.

Awaiting the righteous indignation / outrage committee to arrive and cancel me.

Seems like something drove down the sidewalk and cleared it a bit. Does the city even take care of that path?

Remind me, when was the last time we got a snowstorm in November? Even at the very tail end?

Earlier this month if I recall correctly.

It has really been coming down in Burnaby since the early afternoon. Roads were basically parking lots and I had to take several residential streets to get back home. Why do people leave their home with improper tires is beyond me. Our buses also do very poorly in the slightest snow. Not sure how their tires differ from those in Nordic Countries?

Next 10 days are going to be very snowy. Very interesting if it could last all through December? Having a white Christmas would be awesome.
