I suppose Slabtown benefits from being more integrated into an existing neighborhood. I just don't think I'd want to see more Vancouver style towers- on- podiums dominating here.
The problem is those podiums don’t have beneficial mix uses for them. Once that happens. Bars, restaurants, etc SoWa will pop with activities

I'm guessing it wasn't snowing in Northwest yesterday.

Slabtown is really growing into a solid urban neighborhood. Trolley extension out there will do much to connect it with the city.

Slabtown minus the snow. This is really turning out well.

Really pleased with the urban canyon here. Wide enough for good sunlight, visually interesting, activated pedestrian space. Just a slam dunk for neighborhood building.

I agree, overall Slabtown is turning out really nice and turning into quite an urban area in the city. I noticed with the new buildings that the theme of the neighborhood is brown and tan, but it does make those buildings that don't do that color scheme stand out.

That's nice looking, is this fountain, pool all part of the project?

It looks like it is just for the rendering as the site plan shows it as a "Future Park" across the street.

Am I the only one who hates bogus renderings? I realize they can't predict what a future park might look like, but that pool is particularly blatantly unrealistic.

I sure am glad to see this area filling in though. It's been such a long time coming, so it's great to see it happening.

The park will be built separately by PP&R. Design work on the park hadn't yet started when that rendering was made. I don't know if there's been any progress since.

I don't mind rendering in a future park that has yet to be designed, but whoever did this rendering went a bit overboard with the fountain. Just a basic park in the foreground would have been plenty.

It would be a nice centerpiece to the neighborhood if they did a fountain like that though... I hope they consider it.

The Northwest Portland neighborhood has been chomping at the bit to start the design process for the park. It has not been able to get a Park Bureau commitment on the schedule.

Per this leasing flyer, it looks like Afuri will be opening in the nearly complete Saltwood North. A great addition to the NW 21st & Raleigh intersection, which has turned out really nicely with the four notches for restaurant terraces.

Afuri Will Open a New Portland Slabtown Area Restaurant in 2022

Customers will be able to see the entire ramen production process—from dough to bowl.

Tokyo ramen chain Afuri continues its Portland domination.

The brand announced today it is bringing its silky, springy noodles to Northwest Portland in 2022, which also further cements Slabtown’s status as one of the city’s fastest-growing dining hubs.

Afuri says its newest outpost will offer a completely different experience than its other settings, since customers will be able to see the entire ramen production process—from dough to bowl. The location is also slated to host collaboration dishes made with top ramen masters from around the world.
...continues at Willamette Week.

Another former warehouse bites the dust. They should have made it taller tho to add more residents. Density density density people!
