But at the same time, it's fascinating, because somehow the city manages to keep going despite the apparent craziness. Indian cities are truly an amazing experience, especially for Westerners, who could never deal with that level of urbanity.

Indian cities are going from rurbarization (did I coin a new term?) to modern urbanization pretty abruptly. Hence the collisive nature and duality of the whole experience.
