To be clear, I think what they are doing is completing the podium section for the second sister. This was always intended to be part of phase one. I don't think they are planning on starting the actual second tower until 2024.

You don’t think that they’ll start work on it once the exterior work of tower one is finished? I had the impression they were going to start it as early as the spring.

Well, I suppose you never know.

The original plan was for

1) - Phase one (tower one, podium for towers 1&2) - 2022/23
2) - Phase two (tower two) - 2024/25
3) - Phase three (tower three, remainder of podium) - 2026/27.

But Lafford has now purchased the old Northumberland Dairy building on the other side of Assumption with plans for a residential tower on a commercial/retail podium here in "3-4 years" (2025/26 time frame for a start).

So, Lafford new project would overlap with the construction of Tower 3 of the Three Sisters. Does this mean that Lafford might accelerate the construction timetable for the Three Sisters so that the two construction projects don't overlap???

Hmmmmmm.....................

Hmm, I mean it could be podium but it looks a lot like the second tower. Was all of the foundation prep only for a podium area? If so it’s a large podium area. I would be absolutely floored if it didn’t start until 2024.

It seems like Mr. Lafford must have gotten a very strong response for the units in tower one. That doesn't surprise me - great location, great views etc. At this point it looks like he's planning to move full speed ahead with construction. As long as the market is there I don't think he'll slow down.

The good news is I can confirm they are definitely a few floors into Tower 2 - perhaps they only bring this up to meet podium level and hold off, but they are 100% currently working on the second tower. Perhaps by next summer you will have 2 towers at 15 floors

It'd be great to have a really nice fall weather wise so they can continue flat out with construction.

ATTENTION MONCTON DEVELOPERS:

More facades like this at The Three Sisters and less like 51 Highfield going up across from the Hilton Garden Inn downtown.

This pic I just took doesn’t do it justice. Check it out in person. Too bad this development wasn’t right on Main Street near the Rodd Hotel or across the street next to Staples.

I drove by the site today. I did't get a clear view but I thought I saw some concrete support columns poking above the 3 storey podium where the second tower should be.

I noticed that as well. Looks like they've started the second tower.

Drove by the site today, that ground floor sure looks good. They've also got a lot of podium work done, getting ready for tower two!

I love the photo, but the sea of parking just always breaks my heart. I know it’s going to go over time, but still rough to see form above.

Agree 100%. My pet peeves are the electrical sub-station and the sea of asphalt across from Heritage Court!

Some siding is starting to go up on the western face of the first sister. Nothing mind-blowing but I do prefer the smaller panels they seem to be using to what we've seen recently. Gives a little illusion of stone. Sorry about the lack of pictures camera is shot.

This is what I've always seen in this part of Moncton, south of Main Street - tonnes of opportunity.

The city has a plan. They also have a willing partner (Ashford), at least for the Assumption Place parking lot and the Rogers call centre land. Big changes will soon be seen, beginning in the next couple of years,

Soon there will also be two more sister towers, and, apparently another large residential tower just across Assumption Blvd, perhaps up to 20 storeys tall.

Eventually, within 20-30 years, all this ocean of surface parking will disappear. I might not be around to see it all, but it will still be exciting to see the transformation taking place in real time.
