UPDATED- Where do you think the new arena will be built?

I know I made one of these earlier this year, but after all the recent talks/ articles about the owners narrowing it down to "3 to 4 sites" and the countless discussions we've had here, I'm sure a lot of you have changed your decisions

I was really hoping that it would be Railtown, but im changing my vote to West Village. There seems to be lots of room to put an arena, an entertainment complex and it would help revitalize the west end. It's also cheap land for the owners.

I want to say Railtown, but sounds like it'll be WV, with flames ownership citing other potential locations as an attempt to create leverage.

Before the Herald article last week I would have guessed the West Village (although Firestone would be my preference) but now I'm not sure. I sort of get the feeling the city might prove meddlesome to any non-Stampede Park alternative.

I chose Railtown. I think WV is the best site, but the amount of work required will probably prevent that site from being chosen.

Selfishly, I chose the Firestone site. Owning a home in Mayland Heights being the main reason. I think the location can work, provided the great transportation connections and amount of land required.

This vote is silly as it doesn't consider opportunity costs, or rejuvenation value. This is what the Calgary Sun would do.

If opportunity costs and rejuvenation value were not considered, I'd say West Village. When looking at it more comprehensively, and considering the values the City has to balance, my vote is squarely on Firepark.

Perhaps we should limit to pieces of land that are large enough?

I selfishly choose railtown.

And it just sort of makes sense.

You have potential for an underground, integrated LRT station when the SE line gets going one day, or some kind of spur until then. Sunalta does not scream "High Capacity" to me with a single giant escalator to get up.

You can make an entertainment district that serves arena/stadium and stampede events. It makes hotel development very attractive.

It's really kind of a crappy piece of land for much else unless you get really creative. The West Village could do just fine on its own.

Firepark would be cool, if it could kick start the area, (but It's got to be WV, right???) Flames make a billion dollar impact and turn the area into a highlight for the city... With unparalleled views from the mixed use high rise TOD that I would imagine as part of the district.

The complaints about it being on a single line are valid, as WV is on a single line as well, although, definitely walkable to DT.

WV for sure.
