This is on my commute at the moment. I'll try to get a picture from this angle weekly:

Was going slow, due to the cantilever. The first floor went up at the end of June and the cantilever was poured by the end of September with the residential floors going up pretty fast since then, with four stories above the cantilever floor

Thanks Jawn! God, that parking lot "canyon" is awful. Can't wait for all those lots to be filled in.

This can now be seen from Drexel Park, closer to North 31st Street you will see it next to Cira Center

I don't see the sidewalk on that side of Walnut St as particularly narrow. Check it in a pre-construction streetview: https://goo.gl/maps/7iCh8MVHhp6cTwd47

Compared to this, it's narrow:

And in your street photo, heading west on the sidewalk you lose another 3 feet walking west when you butt up to the adjacent steps to the bldg next to this project.

3 stories in the front, but the 7 story rear portion is to provide the new elevator and stair shaft for the adjoining Warwick apartments.

I found a bit more detail in the minutes of the PHC Architectural Committee meeting of 3/27/2018:

https://www.phila.gov/media/20190327...s-20180327.pdf

The historic buildings at 1904 and 1906-16 Sansom Street would be combined and converted for housing. The rear of the building at 1904 would be removed and reconstructed as an elevator and stair tower for the new complex. The building at 1906-16 currently has a single, very small elevator and a single stairway that runs across an exterior balcony at every floor. The new elevator and stair tower will provide the requisite access to and egress from every floor. The tower will be clad in brick. A roof deck will be added to 1904, but will be set back from the plane of the front façade to be inconspicuous. Windows will be replaced in the historic buildings to match the historic window appearances. The non-historic infill in the storefront opening at 1904 will be replaced with an entranceway system that echoes the historic windows. The masonry of the historic buildings will be cleaned and repaired.

Parking Lot Plans?

Can't help but notice that wonderful large parking lot. Does anyone know if there are any future plans for development for that lot? That's space for at least a 700 footer.

Apparently no. This was discussed several pages back. You are right, it's a great place for tower; 700'? Probably not.
