It would be nice to have something more traditional and timeless given the location, to balance out the same tired trendy stuff we've been getting lately (no more angled exposed support beams, arbitrarily staggered lines/windows, and obnoxiously out of proportion square corkscrew parking podiums).

Two that come to my mind would be BofA tower in Charlotte and US Bank in LA. If there's a way to make that kind of a form factor work with mixed use, I think that would work really well on Congress Ave, especially the views framed against the capitol.

If I could frame this remark I would. 100%.

Instead of "traditional" and "timeless" (two subjective terms), I'd prefer to see something more "cutting-edge" and "unique" (two more subjective terms).

I want an art deco style supertall. Anything less than that is a fail.

I would love an Art Deco style, but I have a feeling we’ll get something more like this:

It'll probably have three uses, so there will be multiple amenity levels and balconies on at least 1/3 of it.

I’ll take it, though I have to think that location with a super tall on the way would at least get people thinking how to surpass it … in more ways than one.

You mustn't base your dispair on conjecture. Wait for the proposal and renderings before you dive into that dark and desperate pit of unconsolable pain and relentless sorrow. You should have at least some justification for your torment.
Personally, I wouldn't mind something like that.

Slash ~20 floors off the top for the final rendering and you’ve got yourself a full-blown Austin skyscraper.

Is this the area?

I don't have access to the ABJ so I am not clear how much of that area was sold. Based on the amount I would assume the L-shaped area? anyone know for sure?

Is a developer attached yet?

^^^FKA: Vista Tower.

That same developer (Chicago-based Magellan Development Group) built the Thompson and Tommie Hotel tower (5th & Brazos) here.

I can see some sort of point tower on the northwest corner of this property...

Nice. I did not know that. That hotel turned out pretty solid on street level. Wish all projects followed suit.

A Development Assessment permit was filed today for 203 Colorado. It maps to this project. I'm changing the project name from 3rd & Congress to 3rd & Colorado.

I guarantee you that this project will, when delivered, have a Congress Avenue address.

But, progress on this is exciting!!!

This is good, this is good. We’re really starting to see the next round of towers take shape.
